**POSITION OVERVIEW:**
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks a Production Planner for the Accelerator Directorate Technical Planning Department. The successful candidate will support the LCLS-II-HE Project. The Production Planner will work with the engineering and installation staff to manage inventory and logistics, scheduling of fabrication, assembly and testing of beamline components and complex assemblies. This position reports to the Technical Planning Department Head in the Mechanical Engineering and Technical Services Division of SLAC¿s Accelerator Directorate.
**Given the nature of this position, SLAC will require onsite work.**
**Your specific responsibilities include:**
+ Work with engineers, designers, and technicians in the fabrication and assembly of the LCLS-II-HE system. Components will range in complexity from simple mechanical hardware to magnet and vacuum assemblies.
+ Research potential vendors and collect other information necessary for the submission of requisitions; visit vendor sites to determine the fabrication, quality control, and documentation capabilities of local machining, welding, brazing, plating, and paint shops.
+ Interact with engineers, designers, SLAC procurement personnel, and other technical experts as necessary; clarify issues with drawings until all parts for the system are purchased.
+ Obtain quotation and purchase requisition placement of fabricated parts, assemblies, and materials with vendors.
+ Coordinate fabrication and assembly of parts and systems with SLAC manufacturing.
+ Serve as manufacturing liaison between external vendors, SLAC manufacturing groups, and collaborate with LCLS-II-HE engineers for resolution of technical issues.

**Note:** This is a 12-month fixed term position with the possibility of extension or converting to regular, continuing status.
**To be successful in this position you will bring:**
+ Associate degree or certificate of completion in a related engineering or related scientific discipline, and three years of equivalent work experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
+ Ability to understand, analyze and interpret drawing packages describing the fabrication and assembly of complex scientific instruments, this requires knowledge of mechanical fabrication practices, mechanical design, vacuum compatible fabrication practices, and drafting standards.
+ Experienced in using manufacturing workflow software such as Visual Manufacturing Software.
+ Knowledge of local area machine shops, sheet metal shops, material suppliers, braze shops, plating shops, and construction contractors.
+ A solid understanding of mechanical fabrication and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) processes and handling.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Proven organization skills to track documents and manage deadlines, using spreadsheets or other software tools as appropriate.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in the use of standard office software such as MS Office Suite, MS Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
+ Ability to work independently and in a diverse team environment.
+ Ability to work in a dynamic environment, take initiative to complete duties proactively, and work under tight deadlines.
**Desired Skills:**
+ Experience with Visual Manufacturing Software.
+ Demonstrated experience with an on-line purchase requisition and purchase order system such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP.
+ Demonstrated experience in vendor selection, placement of orders, order expediting and tracking, managing inspection and material certifications documentation, and receiving and storage of incoming materials.

_The expected pay range for this position is $90,000 to $116,993 per annum. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
