We are now seeking to recruit a results-focused Production Planner to join our team based at our site in Havant, Hampshire, UK (PO9 2NB), on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract basis.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe Production Planner will be responsible for:
• Maintaining and issuing the production plan to meet customer requirements using MRP and in collaboration with the manufacturing stakeholders.
• Detecting potential shortages and capacity issues and work with the wider materials team to resolve them.
• Reviewing the 5-day forecast and plan production with support of manufacturing team to achieve maximum line efficiency.
• Releasing work orders to the manufacturing area. Ensure required documentation and/or system transactions are executed to allocate, purchase, internally manufacture or reschedule material as required.
• Reviewing potential missed lines and work with stakeholder for recovery plan.
• Daily contact with customer services through weekly order status reports and responses to expedite/de-expedite/cancellation requests.
• Daily update of past due and OTD plant trackers.
• Planning capacity of the manufacturing area against order book. Issuing sales forecast for short and medium term and challenging bottlenecks to obtain optimized sales plan.
• Mapping out and planning the inventory of the manufacturing area. Analysing data to determine opportunities to decrease inventory, improve customer service levels and reduce total costs through regular review of inventory planning parameters that include Min & Max values, Kanbans, reorder points and lot sizes.
• Issuing cycle count targets to the line, managing results and investigating variances.
• Reviewing and investigating excess stock and obsolescence and managing disposal.
• Participating in calls and escalation meetings with customer representatives on behalf of the manufacturing area.
• Maintaining the accuracy and validity of the item master and related planning data in the ERP system through regular reviews of order policies, safety stock levels, make/buy indicators and lead-times
To thrive in this role as a Production Planner, you will display:
Manufacturing industry experience Experience and knowledge of ERP MRP systems (preferably SAP) Material/production scheduling experience, six-sigma skills and knowledge Production and inventory management knowledge APICS CPIM Certification is preferable but not essential Ability to work effectively within teams Negotiation skills Strong communication and presentation skills Strong problem-solving and analytical skills MS Office proficiency
