Production Planner II - ASCEND

The Ascend program is an enterprise-driven training initiative tailored to build essential skills within our Operations/Product Realization organization. ASCEND aims to standardize onboarding, on-the-job training, and mentoring across IAS and MST to industry standards and SNC best practice, ensuring a cohesive and comprehensive development experience. This program is designed to provide our teams with the critical capabilities needed to excel and innovate, driving towards greater efficiency and success. Role-based cohorts; initially the focus will be on one skill group with the intent to expand to additional roles.

This program is designed to give you an opportunity to deep dive into various aspects of the enterprise, specifically focusing on gaining a high-level understanding of both Material and Production Planning. The aim is to equip you with comprehensive knowledge of SNC's (Sierra Nevada Company) processes and procedures.

Throughout this program, you will be guided through a series of modules that cover key areas of Material and Production Planning. You will learn about the strategies, tools, and methodologies used within the company to ensure efficient and effective planning. This will include an overview of supply chain management, inventory control, procurement processes, production scheduling, engineering and coordination among different departments.

As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Responsibilities:

EBOM to MBOM Conversion: Interpret technical drawings and design intent to create detailed and accurate Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) for process plans and manufacturing orders.Develop and maintain MOs based on the refined MBOM and product structure, ensuring logical sequencing.Part Number Implementation: Implement manufacturing part numbers from the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, ensuring alignment with design and production requirements.Routing Maintenance: Maintain and update routings in the ERP system to reflect the most efficient and cost-effective production processes.Process Plans and Work Instructions: Generate detailed process plans and work instructions in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to guide production activities.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Consult with program management, design engineers, quality, and production teams to develop the most efficient and cost-effective means of producing products at the highest level of quality.Research and Development: Research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy, and improve cutting-edge products and services to meet evolving customer needs and market demands.Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including MBOMs, process plans, work instructions, and any changes to production schedules, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelors degree and at least 2 years of experience in a similar role or technical position, such as a structural or electrical/avionics technician, or quality control inspectorA higher level degree may substitute for experienceRelated experience may be considered in lieu of required educationExperience in performing or interpreting installations using engineering drawings, schematics, and/or technical documentationExperience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and interpretation or creation of work instructionsExposure to engineering design change control processesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesThe ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Qualifications We Prefer:

Familiarity in applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5Background in the Aerospace and Defense IndustryKnowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processesFamiliarity with work instruction/traveler developmentFamiliarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.Participation in dispositions of Non-Conformance generation through a Material Review Board (MRB)Experience with new product introduction and transition to productionExposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systemsExperience with creating work instructions within a Manufacturing Execution SystemExperience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and/or EnterpriseResource Planning (ERP) SystemsBackground in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US MilitaryBasic understanding of master production planning
