Production Planning & Control Manager

Education: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Engineering, Business Administration or related field from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

5 years minimum experience in a leadership position in a manufacturing environment and/or an equivalent large segment of a business.Excellent communication skills (presentations, verbal and written).Highly knowledgeable with production planning concepts such as MRP.Understanding of Budget responsibility and Profit and Loss managementExceptional analytical and conceptional thinking skillsHigh level of competency in Microsoft Office applications especially ExcelApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Our state-of-the-art investment casting facility in La Porte, Indiana is seeking a Production Control & Planning Manager to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in La Porte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry. 

The Production Control and Planning Manager (PCP) directs and coordinates activities to ensure the timely production of castings to meet the site objectives and customer demand through direct interface with customers, suppliers, and internal cross functional teams. The PCP is responsible for the creation of a supply plan and for managing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring the expedient flow of parts through the manufacturing processes to satisfy the customers’ delivery requirements. The PCP is responsible to ensure the right levels of raw materials and work in process are available for Operations to successfully execute the supply plan.  

The PCP ensures the site is balancing supply versus demand each month; identifying areas where the segment is out of balance and proactively recommends options/scenarios to align across functions/locations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Communicates directly and through the Planning Team with customers regarding a) the status of order fulfillment, b) future risks to demand attainment, and c) capacity constraints impacting success.Coordinates with Commercial/Marketing teams concerning current and future demand, coordinates customer service-related communication, and answers any other questions. Acts as liaison between Howmet’s customers and manufacturing and support teams. Communicates customers’ requirements and concerns.  Acts as the customer intermediary to ensure delivery is timely. Develops master schedule to establish sequence and lead-time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or orderbook.Takes action to drive daily shipments which achieve monthly objectives.Analyzes customer demand against plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.Plans and directs production activities including any outsource vendors and establishes production priorities in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.Ensures item master and BOM accuracy in the manufacturing system to drive accurate MRP data.Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.Coordinates delivery schedule and other supply chain activitiesCoordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems based on synchronous manufacturing principles.Prepares production reports as required.Analyzes physical inventory and works in a cross-functional capacity enhance inventory turnover.Leads the activities required to complete an annual physical inventory.Oversees the raw material line of balance process including the accurate forecast of needs to each raw material and outsource supplier.
