Production Planning & Scheduling Manager - Indianapolis, IN
The Production Planning & Scheduling Manager, will lead the overall planning and scheduling of our manufacturing facility. This includes driving strategy for the Production Planning and Scheduling team to successfully meet our company’s short and long-term delivery goals. You will set expectations for the development and execution of the daily/weekly/monthly goals and key performance indicators (KPIs). You will work with the manufacturing leaders as well as the support team on analyzing scenarios that balance demand and supply while optimizing inventory and minimizing the impact of demand volatility.
What You Will Do:
Guide team of planners that receive, schedule and promise daily customer and inter-company orders while maintaining optimal sales backlogs.Guide team of factory schedulers responsible for scheduling multiple production lines.Guide Sales Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process: facilitate demand planning discussions, translate demand to operational and supply chain requirements; facilitate operational capacity plan development; establish forecasts to suppliers; and identify risks to production.Facilitates long term capacity assessment (RCCP) and development of countermeasure/action plans.Identification and resolution of Constraints - Capacity, Resource & Material.Conducts a demonstrated lead-time analysis and measures gap to published lead times. Drives corrective action plan and reviews and updates published lead-times.Manages the inputs-outputs to the rough-cut capacity plan and the information flow with customer service on requests for changes, cancellations, or expedites based on customer requests.Establish common metrics, data definitions and business processes to support customer service, inventory, and demand/forecast improvements.Drives continuous process improvement, strives to improve efficiency, likely to challenge processes where favorable alternatives may be available. Data analysis and reporting of key performance indicators such as: delivery performance, backlog, performance to master schedule and inventory turnsDocument and maintain procedures and processes to ensure system and data accuracy and integrity.Monitor and drive resolution of MRP processing errors.Support customer service with exception request analysis and expediting resolution.Provide training on master production scheduling procedures and processes.Knowledge and understanding of the following in a manufacturing environment:Materials Management / Master Scheduling, Sales Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP), Forecasting, Capacity Planning, Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)Advanced understanding and application of lean manufacturing principles.Proven leadership abilities and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.Proficient with ERP systems.Strong experience in performance metrics and process implementation and improvement.Models and supports organization’s goals and values; adapts to changing conditions; demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles.Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information and ideas in a variety of media.Action oriented and solution-driven thinking.Strong influencing skills – ability to influence & collaborate across functional and geographic boundaries as well as across organizational tiers.Agility and personal adaptability with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities with a high sense of urgency in a rapidly changing environment.Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving work.What You Need to Succeed:
BS/BA degree in business or engineering disciplineMinimum of 5 years of experience leading SIOP and production forecasting and scheduling processesExperience with push and pull scheduling methods in a high volume/mix environmentExperience optimizing inventory, purchasing/supplier scheduling, and change managementExperience with visual management systems/lean managementWhy Work for Us?
