DuPont is recruiting for Process Operators to join our dynamic team located at our manufacturing site in Channahon, IL.

Under the leadership of the Site Production Leader and as a member of a self-directed, high performance team of three Process Operators, those individuals operate assigned areas of the Styrofoam® insulation plant in a safe, environmentally responsible and efficient manner, and perform minor maintenance activities.

  

Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:​ 

Meet behavior expectations in the areas of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), quality, productivity, and teamwork and actively participate in continuous improvement efforts.

Develop and follow Standard Operating Procedures to operate assigned area of the plant.

Safely perform manual operations such as cutting off foam during start-ups/jam-ups, manually stacking and grinding foam, and filling solids additive feeders.

Interface with Process Control computers to optimize and troubleshoot product quality and equipment operations.

Analyze process and product variation and take corrective action.

Manually set up and adjust process equipment for product changes.

Perform on-shift minor maintenance, predictive/preventive maintenance (PPM), breakdown repair, and scheduled shutdown/turnaround activities.

Initiate and participate in Root Cause Analysis of EH&S, Quality, and Reliability incidents.

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Participate in and lead daily tailgate meetings with Shift Operating Team.

Perform standard and non-routine testing of product quality.

Utilize fork trucks to move materials.​ 

 

Requirements:​ 

Must have at least 2 years of applicable work experience in   manufacturing, chemical plant or warehouse environmental, and possess good mechanical aptitude.

Must be capable of performing simple math computations involving ratios and fractions.

Must possess strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and be capable of working in an empowered team environment.

Must have a current valid US driver’s license.

Must have experience using computers and be comfortable learning new systems such as Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

High school diploma or GED is required. 

This position operates on a 12-hr rotating shift schedule and will work on assignments in all areas a tobacco free plant campus.

Overtime is required to cover vacancies due to illness, vacation of other team members, and scheduled meetings.

In addition, successful candidate must meet the following physical qualifications, with or without accommodation:

Production area is non-air conditioned and requires the wearing of long sleeves.  Uniforms are provided.

A high degree of manual foam handling is required utilizing safe ergonomic behaviors. 

Individual must be capable of lifting 50 lb.

Individual must be capable of climbing stairs and ladders frequently during the shift.

Individual must be medically approved to wear a respirator.

Must be able to drive a fork truck in reverse for long distances. 

The following are preferred:

Mechanical or electrical experience either in a formal job or as a hobby is desired.

Additional education beyond high school in a process technology, mechanical or electrical field is desirable.
