Job Summary/Purpose
Directs, plans and coordinates plant operation, maintenance, planning/scheduling, stores and staffing to meet site production needs. Manages day-to-day plant operations and maintenance planning and execution, champions employee and contractor safety programs, drives continuous improvement in plant operations and maintenance and actively participates in budget development and the effective management of allocated financial resources. Effectively manages operational issues to support system needs, evaluates performance of and develops direct reports and their subordinates, maintains high standards of diversity and inclusion, ethics, and integrity, supports Entergy's Continuous Improvement program by serving as a champion of change and manages staff through effective hiring practices.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Provides direct leadership and oversight of the operations and maintenance resources of the facility. Provides direction to operational and maintenance supervision, schedules shift resources and manages staffing issues. Provides leadership for and development of direct reports. Embraces human performance improvement initiative.
Assures that plant operations and maintenance personnel comply with safe work practices and processes, comply with plant procedures, and efficiently and effectively operate and maintain the plant equipment. Develops procedures, checklists, and performance measures to monitor process controls to ensure that all regulatory requirements (Safety, NERC, SOX...etc.) are fulfilled within staff. Maintains operational procedures and system descriptions.
Works with system planning organization to maximize plant production, schedules unit testing, schedules planned outages and communicates operational issues and forced outage return to service.
Evaluates and champions gap closure actions that are consistent with the company's overall business strategy.
Ensures plant resources achieve annual fossil goals and objectives.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external interfaces and key strategic alliance partners. Proves ability to develop a productive working relationship with IBEW resulting in mutual trust, benefit, and success (Applies to Contract Labor Union Bargaining Site).
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position.
High school diploma or equivalent work experience. Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical degree preferred.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in power plant operations, including at least 4 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Knowledge
Power Plant Operations and Systems:
Comprehensive understanding of legacy gas power plant systems, including turbines, switchgear, MCCs, breakers, and auxiliary equipment.
Knowledge of unit startup, shutdown, and operational procedures, including handling emergencies.
Safety Standards and Protocols:
In-depth knowledge of safety protocols, evacuation procedures, and risk management in industrial power plant environments.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements (OSHA, NFPA, EPA) and their application in plant operations.
Maintenance Practices:
Understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to ensure plant reliability and safety.
Emergency Response:
Expertise in handling critical events, plant evacuations, and re-establishing operations post-emergency.
Operational Performance Metrics:
Knowledge of operational efficiency metrics such as heat rate, EFORd (Equivalent Forced Outage Rate on Demand), and equipment reliability standards.
