Job Title: Production Associate

Job Description

This position provides support to the Soil/Sort department by working in either a sorting or washperson capacity. Personnel assigned to this role must be proficient in all aspects of the rotation and effectively operate the wash system, conducting all related washroom activities.

ResponsibilitiesAccept responsibility for the safety and health of employees and visitors by ensuring adherence to safety policies, rules, and regulations, and personally intervening to prevent injury or damage.Execute sanitation practices to ensure the Soil/Sort Wash area remains clean and sanitary by wiping down carts and work surfaces, mopping, sweeping floors, and completing other similar tasks.Ensure the plant remains free of clutter, debris, or anything that might negatively impact the ability to maintain a safe and efficient production environment.Maintain a basic understanding of policies and procedures, including soiled linen sorting and washing procedures and operations.Work proficiently in the positions of sorter, soil sorter, and wash person, safely operating all tools and equipment used in the department.

Essential SkillsAbility to work with soiled fabrics, including linens with bodily fluids, human waste, and blood.Standing for extended amounts of time and performing repetitive tasks.Willingness to start work early and maintain a schedule that requires going to bed early.Ability to read, write, communicate ideas or thoughts to others, and perform basic math functions at a High School or GED level.

Additional Skills & QualificationsPossessing the ability to work with soiled fabrics and handle bodily fluids.Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive work.Starting work early and maintaining an early bedtime schedule.

Work Environment

Work primarily in an industrial plant setting where exposure to routine laundry chemicals, fumes, and cleaning products is expected. The environment may expose employees to changes in temperature (hot and cold) and humidity, noise levels common in a production facility, and dusty, dirty, and wet conditions. Tasks and procedures involve risks classified by the CDC as Category I, requiring universal precautions due to direct contact with blood or other bodily fluids. The role involves handling soiled linens and clothing with various bodily fluids. Maintaining production goals within allotted times can be stressful.

The pay range for this position is $18.52 - $18.52
