As the Production Stage Manager, you will have a complete understanding of the Show Director’s Artistic intent and be skilled in the practical implementation required to realize and maintain that vision. We look to the Production Stage Manager to ensure an easy transition from the production team to the operating team.
This is a full-time salaried role that will report to the Producer.
What You Will Do
Coordinate entertainment events and show elements for new or remounted projects/events from pre-production, load-in, execution, strike, and/or operational handoverLead aspects of the delivery of an event or show, from planning and scheduling rehearsals to performing the role of in-field Manager on DutyProvide leadership oversight to Cast and Crew for production deliverables in coordination with vendors, Park Event Operations, Marketing, and park entertainment operations teamsSupervise and support the Entertainment Cast on their assigned projects/events, including Performers, Technicians, Costuming, Cosmetology, and Stage ManagersServe as the point of contact during all rehearsals, installations, performances, and strikes to key partners and clientsTrack, update, and revise event information and client needInteract with various types of talent and all levels of Leadership for offerings/events occurring both on and off Disney propertyMake quick decisions under pressure and respond effectively in situations such as weather, executive changes, contingencies, cast injuries, etc. while keeping safety at the top of mindBuild detailed rehearsal schedules and run rehearsals efficientlyPrepare prompt books, and "call" complex show cuesDeliver show notes to the Cast and CrewBuild a detailed production book including a script breakdown for all show production elements as neededCommunicate with Production team members continually, including Production Assistants, Production Managers, Producers, and technical and design team membersProactively find solutions to difficult or complex issues and take action to resolveMonitor Cast in/out times to ensure timelines and schedules are adhered to by allDeliver consistent application of work rules associated with the Walt Disney World® collective bargaining agreementsRequired Qualifications & Skills
1-3 years of experience as a Stage Manager and/or Entertainment Event ManagementKnowledge and understanding of large-scale show productionAbility to create and read stage plots, complex cue scripts, and blocking for prompt scriptsCapable of adapting to rapid show-flow changes in a live and fluid environmentExperience in live event corporate settings, working with high-level talent and technologyExpertise in managing rehearsal processes and experience with large groupsOutstanding leadership, problem-solving, influencing, and negotiating skillsAbility to give effective feedback and share creative and new ideasAbility to facilitate a seamless, integrated transition from the Production team to the Operations team on projectsKnowledge of lighting, audio, SFX, scenic, costuming, rigging and stagingGood interpersonal relationship skills with talent, vendors, clients, production teams, reports, technicians, and executivesWorking knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements including Equity, AF of M, IATSE & Service TradePreferred Qualifications
Music or musical script reading abilityComfortable to call live cues to jump between presentation content, video playback content, camera IMAGs, and a various combination of eachAble to call corporate-style events including, but not limited to, all changes to in-room projection, LED screens, DSMs, speaker timers, etc.Experience in influencing and building budgets, forecasting costs, and tracking project financials in special events and showsKnowledge of licensing, copyrights, and local government regulationsAbility to adapt to a continuously changing scope and parameters in a fast-paced environmentAbility to take on many projects and balance the workloadEducation
