Job Description

SUMMARY

Performs the function of supervising the production activities and personnel of one or more departments. Responsible for assigning and coordinating work. Typically reports to Operations Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise daily production activities of a specific group of craft or assembly workers in one or more production departmentsMonitor and review work performance, attendance, and quality of work of all supervised personnel and take corrective actions in collaboration with Human ResourcesMaintain and approve timesheets of direct reportsPromote proactive safety culture by engaging self and employees in identifying safety hazards and opportunities for improvement, suggesting and implementing preventive and corrective measures. Maintain company safety and housekeeping programs for a safe work environment in collaboration with EHS team.Instruct new employees how to operate and perform tasks.  Advise and assist employees on methods to help the employee attain established work standards.Promote a positive work environment by applying company policies consistently and in a fair manner, and by addressing employee concerns in a confidential and swift manner, in collaboration with Human Resources.Review present equipment, production procedures, and make recommendations that may improve the operation cost reduction.Participate in scheduling production and ensures adherence to production schedule

Education and Work Experience

Minimum 2-3 years relevant experience requiredAssociate’s degree or equivalent required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Attend work regularly and report promptly for duty on the days and at the times scheduled by the supervisor.Schedule changes occur and should be handled in a productive mannerWorking temperatures vary with seasonal changes and climate control is limited.  The environment is one in which noise exists.Sit on a forklift, stand, and/or walk for a combined minimum of eight (8) hours per day on a concrete surface. Lift and carry components, tools, or other items weighing more than 35 pounds.  Any item over 35 pounds, is to be done with assistanceMay perform combination of physical movements to reach areas difficult to access including bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, twisting and rotation motions using head/neck, arms, wrists, waist, knees and arms while performing duties.  Pull and push up to 100 pounds.Handle small hand tools and power tools.  Handling may be done unilaterally (one-handed) or bilaterally (two-handed) depending on size and shape of object and task being performed.Need corrected vision to be aware of surroundings and location of items needed and perform various other job duties.Need corrected hearing to identify conditions in the environment (i.e. forklift horns, fire alarms).Need mental alertness to identify, avoid, or resolve safety hazards.Ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers.Ability to wear designated personal protective equipment for the work assignment (i.e. safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves and sleeves, hearing protection, dust masks).
