Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Supervises the operations associated with crystal growth related process equipment and procedures are carried out in accordance with company procedures. Manages the daily drum beat of loading, unloading, and rebuilds of furnaces as well as preparation of source materials required for growth. Leads daily production meetings to report on plan for the day, progress to plan, staffing, and challenges. Maintains strict control of inventory by working with leads/operators to identify material needs, oversee withdrawals, and creation/processing of paperwork to properly adjust inventory levels in SAP. Supervises daily temperature measurements and power adjustments to furnace settings to maximize yield/quality of growth runs. Coordinates daily inspection of completed material in accordance with engineering requirements to keep downstream operations fed and operating efficiently. Interacts effectively with equipment engineering and maintenance to insure furnaces are operational and functioning as required. Organizes and tracks customer orders and samples. Bottlenecks are identified and corrective actions taken when necessary. Leads hiring of operators/technicians and assures successful employee training is completed. Effectively solves equipment, process, and staffing problems as they occur and in a timely manner. Works effectively across shifts/departments to fill any staffing gaps with the use of overtime and/or temporary reassignments. Shipments to customers are made on-time as planned and all required documentation is included with each shipment. Actively participates in writing of crystal growth and related technological procedures in accordance with ISO guidelines. Communicates problems, results, and important issues to the process development team. Provides Status reports, and alerts team when quality is jeopardized due to process variations. Oversees the successful migration from paper tracking to digitization of inputs by working closely with engineering to implement new practices and procedures. Monitors and maintains a physical inventory of all consumables, supplies and spare parts. Manages the working interface with suppliers. Executes calibration and preventative maintenance programs on schedule. Assists Site Manager and Engineers in areas such as equipment selection and capacity expansion. Works with internal and external resources to commission and operate new equipment. Provides assistance and support for all areas of the manufacturing process as required. All applicable OSHA and other relevant safety and health regulations are understood and are in compliance. Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods are used effectively to track the variability of critical process parameters and in measurements related to final product specifications. Areas for cost reduction are identified and cost reduction initiatives are supported. Provides feedback to Engineers that will help improve manufacturing processes, improve yields and lower costs. Supports the ISO quality system, and updates operating procedures as required. Ensure all operators are aware of company’s quality and environmental policy Assures that procedures are created in an ISO compliant manner and format. Actively participates in finding non-compliant factors and implementation of corrective actions. Support is provided for the development and coordination of training plans and materials to continuously improve employee skill sets and productivity. Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred 2-5 years of relevant manufacturing experience 3-5 years of supervisory experience Background in the use of an inventory management system (such as SAP or Oracle) and able to effectively manage inventory. Must have experience with using a Manufacturing Execution System for movement and tracking of product. Experienced in the use of state-of-the-art precision measuring instruments such as infrared thermometers or pyrometers. Demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others required. Experience with problem analysis and resolution at the functional level required Proven track record of continuous improvement Able to develop plans, set goals, to evaluate work accomplishments and provide effective feedback required Experienced with Total Quality\Business Excellence and business process management. Ability to respond to extreme plant conditions such as a power outage including coming in on nights or days off.Skills
General knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing. Must be able to work efficiently and effectively with minimum supervision. Must be able to maintain detailed and accurate documentation in the proper format. Must be capable of developing and training new employees. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when required.
