Production Supervisor
Position Title: Production Supervisor Department: Coats Location: New Bedford, MA Summary of Responsibilities: The Joseph Abboud Manufacturing Company in New Bedford, MA seeks a Production Supervisor to assist management in overseeing all day to day tasks related to the manufacturing, quality assurance and delivery of custom and production garments. Schedule: The hours of operation for our factory are Monday through Saturday. As a result, flexibility with the work schedule and the ability to work any shift during the hours of operation is required. Hours of operation and schedules are subject to change and may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays or late night shifts. Schedule is determined based on business needs. Other Responsibilities will include: · Responsible for all day-to-day tasks involved in the supervision of teams involved in manufacturing high quality custom and production garments. · Ensure Department operates in a timely and efficient manner to have customer garment requirements manufactured to an agreed upon schedule and within Company policy and procedure. · Contribute to building and fostering a positive team spirit and high quality work environment to support company’s goals and objectives by providing outstanding job performance and Servant Leadership. · Supervise, inspire and motivate team to achieve desired results in safety, quality, efficiency, teamwork and job knowledge day to day and ongoing. · Work with the Director of Quality and other areas of the factory to identify, correct and monitor all quality issues. · Work to continually improve efficiency by minimizing off-standard times and utilizing approved coaching methods. · Identify and communicate staffing concerns. · Coordinate the training of staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies to meet and maintain job requirements including providing trained back up for those positions. · Work with maintenance department to ensure all equipment is maintained and repaired . · Addressing employees and peers at group meetings. · Report and record all safety incidents. · Participate in and recommend cost savings ideas and efficiency improvements within the department. · Responsible for interviewing and hiring decisions. · Responsible for discipline of employees as needed in conjunction with the HR department Educational and Work History: · Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of related Industry experience required. · Bi-lingual in English and Spanish or English and Portuguese preferred. List the Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Experience/Abilities Required: · Excellent written and oral communication skills · Ability to lead and direct others · Able to assign and schedule work · Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel · Textile manufacturing experience a plus · Knowledge of 6S and other Lean techniques · Able to work in a fast paced environment · Must be a continuous learner Physical Requirements: · Continuously standing, walking, sitting, reaching and working overhead, climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching, crouching, and crawling · The use of hands and fingers for grasping, reaching, pulling, and pushing · The ability to use a ladder · The ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more Other Duties This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing or activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
