Redpath Sugar is part of the ASR Group, the world’s largest refiner and marketer of cane sugar, with an annual production capacity of more than 6 million tons of sugar.
The Redpath Belleville plant is a blending and packaging operation producing a variety of sugar containing products for customers in Canada and the U.S. The plant operates state of the art high speed mixing and packaging systems supported by high level safety, quality and logistics systems.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable for the health and safety of all employees in the plant. Is responsible to ensure that all operations are safe and that employees work in compliance with established work practices and procedures. Interacts with and participates in the Joint Health and Safety Committee when required. Plans the production, materials, and schedules for the packaging lines to meet customer service, cost, maintenance and production standards. Ensures that equipment is operating properly and efficiently by reviewing the processes in place to support the packaging KPIs, in particular cost, OEE, conformance to plan, quality and delivery. Identifies and implements improvements in the processes to achieve shift targets. Leads continuous improvement problem-solving sessions to action improvement opportunities through root cause analysis. Is a trained facilitator of the 5 step CI process Ensures that the quality of finished products meets Redpath’s and Customer requirements and that all food safety, GMP and housekeeping standards are maintained at all times. Participates in the investigation of customer complaints and identifies corrective action. Ability to identify problems on the packaging floor, make quick decisions to resolve them to support the plant goals. Oversees training programs to employees on safety, quality, operations and other areas as required. Maintains all required department documentation, logs, files and reports and leads regular reviews of plant and operations performance.
WORK EXPERIENCES
College or University graduate with technical or engineering focus preferred. Minimum of 5 years Supervisory experience leading teams in an Industrial setting or demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills. Demonstrated understanding of structured problem solving (CI), Lean experience an asset. Experience with high-speed packaging equipment desired. Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook MS Office skills required. Professional communication with internal and external contacts through telephone and e-mail communications is essential.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
College or University graduate with technical or engineering focus preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Oversees overtime and vacation schedules for hourly employees. Manage the packaging labour to achieve the approved budget. Manages the packaging materials costs and ensures compliance with the BOMs and identifies and implements improvements to reduce packaging materials costs.
