Primary Purpose of this Position:
Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned personnel with the emphasis on safety, quality and productivity. Work closely with the other production foreman and production office to ensure daily schedule and manpower needs are met.
Essential Job Functions:
+ Plan and coordinate all activities of employees to insure safe and productive operations that are effectively coordinated with production activities. Insure that employees are always working safely and performing high quality work.
+ Advise the Production Manager on the status of manpower and other resources necessary to meet scheduling needs.
+ Coordinate scheduled work activities with other production foreman and the production office. Communicate the status of work to other production foreman.
+ Plan and coordinate the cost-effective availability of tools, supplies, and parts. Insure that an adequate inventory of spare parts are maintained to allow the cost effective, timely continuation of production.
+ Effectively maintain the required computerized work for scheduling (access and Strumis).
+ Supervise assigned personnel. Motivate employees to achieve work goals. Enforce work and safety policies.
+ Conduct Performance Reviews and assist with education and training plans.
+ Participate in the hiring process, promotions, disciplinary actions including terminations, time and attendance, reviews of personnel, etc.
+ Make recommendations on work methods or equipment improvements to increase the efficiency of production operations.
+ Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager or Division Manager.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Ability to supervise technical personnel and to work with other foreman and management personnel.
+ Thorough knowledge of steel fabrication practices and procedures.
+ Good communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to read, write, and perform higher arithmetic computations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
+ Ability to understand and carry out semi-complicated verbal and written instructions.
+ Ability to interpret, understand and utilize cutting lists, shop work orders, and shop drawings.
+ Ability to use a computer for inventory and scheduling purposes.
+ Ability to possess pride in own workmanship, demonstrate attention to detail, and work safely.
+ Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes in a safe and proper manner. Use and understand industry and Drake-Williams Steel adopted hand signals used for crane operations.
+ Perform minor mechanical tasks on machine (tip changes, adjustments, cleaning, etc.)
+ Ability to follow inventory procedures.
+ Ability to multi-task.
Physical Demands:
+ Stand OCCASIONALLY to FREQUENTLY over the course of the 8 to 12-hour work shift.
+ Walk OCCASIONALLY to FREQUENTLY over the course of the 8 to 12-hour work shift. The distances walked will range from a distance of a few feet to several hundred feet.
+ Sit OCCASIONALLYT to FREQUENTLY over the course of the 8 to 12-hour work shift.
+ Lift weights up to 20 pounds from floor to chest OCCASIONALLY to FREQUENTLY, which includes the various tools and materials utilized in the process of performing the usual work duties.
+ Lift weights up to 35 pounds OCCASIONALLY to FREQUENTLY from floor to head level during the 8 to 12-hour work shift.
+ Lift weights up to 85 pounds OCCASIONALLY from floor to head level during the 8 to 12-hour work shift. Jib cranes and overhead cranes are available for the employee’s assistance with lifting.
+ Carry weights noted above distances ranging from a few feet to several hundred feet.
+ Climb OCCASIONALLY onto or over the conveyors, steps, or ladders.
+ Stoop or crouch OCCASIONALLY while performing the regular job duties. The position will be held continuously for a few seconds to 15 minutes, depending upon the job.
+ Kneel in the commission of job duties on an OCCASIONALLY, depending upon the job.
+ Crawl OCCASIONALLY up to 10 feet to access tools, materials, etc.
+ Reach forward OCCASIONALLY to perform job duties or to retrieve tools. The employee will OCCASIONALLY be required to reach to full forward extension.
+ Reach overhead OCCASIONALLY to guide material attached to the cranes and to attach the chains from the crane to the material.
+ Push and pull drawers open OCCASIONALLY to FREQUENTLY to retrieve tools or supplies. Employee will OCCASIONALLY push material attached to a jib crane or overhead crane to properly guide into place. Force varies up to 35 pounds.
+ Pull material OCCASIONALLY at waist height.
+ Balance OCCASIONALLY to climb ladders and to walk on steel beams. Employee will not be working at unprotected heights.
+ Gross finger dexterity skills required to operate the various tools and equipment utilized in the course of standard job duties. Fine finger dexterity is not required.
Non-Material Handling Demands
+ Employee is expected to work 40 hours a week. However, hours including overtime and weekends may be required based on Drake-Williams Steel’s needs.
+ Hear sufficiently to be aware of safety issues.
+ Visual ability to read and interpret cut lists and shop drawings. Safety glasses are required in the shop area.
+ Exposure to heat, cold, wet and humid conditions in the shop area OCCASIONALLY.
+ Exposure to fumes, odors and dusts in the shop area OCCASIONALLY.
+ Exposure to solvents, greases, oils, and coolants OCCASIONALLY.
+ Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. PPE includes steel-toe safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats.
Tools Utilized:
Pencil, Square, Tape Measure, Markers, Hammers, Wire Brushes, Grinders, Grab Hooks, Vise Grips, Allen Wrenches, Pry-Bar, C-Clamps, and Chains.
Machines Utilized:
Welders, Grinders, Torches, Plasmas, Computer, Overhead Crane, Jib Crane, Gantry Cranes, Processing Equipment, CNC Machines, Paint Guns, Blaster, Ironworker, Transfers, Forklifts, etc.
Experience and Education Required:
+ High School degree or equivalent.
+ Two or more years of lead/supervisory experience in manufacturing or fabrication is preferred.
