BrightFarms is a national leader in the booming indoor farming industry, transforming how produce is grown and delivered with its expanding network of high-tech, sustainable hydroponic farms. We currently operate six high-tech greenhouse farms, with three new regional greenhouse hubs opening this year. BrightFarms' fresh lettuce options, from classic greens to crunchy mixes and salad kits, are available in more than 4,500 retail stores across the East Coast and Midwest. 

At our greenhouse in Macon, we will grow more than 8 million pounds of leafy greens per year serving Chicagoland and adjacent areas. We are currently in need of a Production Supervisor to support our team.

Specifically you will:

Supervise greenhouse operations and ensure high performancePlan and execute the production schedule, providing supervision and direction to production employeesAllocate resources to ensure minimum downtime and completion of scheduled activitiesPrioritize and manage workload to ensure assignments address goals and objectivesBe accountable to KPIs tied to production, labor expenses and other operating costsLead our efforts to be a LEAN organization and will guide their team through kaizen activities to improve system efficienciesMaintaining a neat, orderly, and safe greenhouse facility and operationEnsuring compliance on all food safety material, food safety best practices, as well as maintaining, monitoring, and verifying all food safety logsAssisting with the onboarding process of new hires, conducting reviews for associates, ensuring training of associates, and leading in a manner consistent with BrightFarms Leadership PhilosophiesAssist in planning, executing, and providing labor and resources as needed for all aspects of greenhouse managementFlexibility to perform other duties as assignedWork closely with peers to develop good team working relationship and cross shift team relationships

The Ideal Candidate:

Candidates should have 3-5 years’ experience directly working in food production, packaging, agriculture, light manufacturing, or complex distribution operationProficiency with computer operations and programs such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Access or other data tracking systemsStrong decision-making and troubleshooting skills and methods are essential

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual, English and SpanishFood or agriculture industry experience: A preference will be given to candidates from organizations in perishable food business with a value-added function, such as cutting fruits/vegetables, processing fruits/vegetables, re-packing, etc.

Working Conditions, Environment, Additional Notes:

Supervisor will have exposure to seasonal conditions which may range from extreme heat and humidity in the summer to cold in the winterThey will spend a large portion of their time in a chilled room environment between 34 – 40°FOften working near moving mechanical partsThere will be exposure to cleaning chemicalsThe noise level of machines and cooling units can be loudTime will be divided between field and office related workMinimal travel will be required
