SUMMARY:
Effective utilization and management of raw materials and human resources throughout processing and packing in order to produce quality finished products per the pre-established pack plan. This is accomplished with a minimum number of employees in a safe and efficient manner within quality and sanitation guidelines in a manner incorporating McCain’s MDI continuous improvement strategy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Effective utilization and management of raw product (finished product) by quality attributes including load, blends, sizing, defects, offal, cut uniformity, count, color, etc.Personnel management of their shift, including, but not limited to promptly addressing performance concerns and issuing corrective action as necessary, grievance investigation and resolution, reduction of turnovers and absenteeism, appropriate employee recognition and the development and training of subordinates.Maintain a safety conscious attitude among subordinates and minimization of all accidents; and accurately and timely completion of all accident investigation reports.Maintain the GMPs on shift to meet the requirements of FDA.Maintain a degree of autonomy to meet established cost and production standards.Maintain records and reports to effectively judge progress of shift. Ensure logbooks are updated and completed daily.Must communicate closely with Shift Manager and Scheduler to assure completion of week pack requirements.Must achieve production standards in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining quality and sanitation standards.Must operate within established quality standards to maintain lowest possible held, segregated or dump production.Must manage their shift held and bulk to minimize inventory. This can be accomplished by inventory planning and scheduling labor.Must be familiar with tote movement report and tote inventory reports so that dry supplies can be made available to gain optimum results.Must maintain close contact and an open relationship with Quality Control personnel as well as personnel in other contributing departments.Must maintain a safety conscious attitude within the department and ensure that regular monthly meetings are conducted.Ensure that a Plant Emergency Organization is organized and workable on shift.Required to know, at all times, temperatures, line speeds, load settings, etc.Coordinate equipment malfunctions with maintenance to minimize downtime.Train and provide guidance and counsel to employees in a manner that assures maximum development and utilization of skill and abilities. Yearly performance evaluations are required to assure employee development.Create an environment that encourages BOS in your department.Continuous Improvement - As a member of the leadership team, your participation in the continuous improvement process is expected. This includes taking an active role in process improvement initiatives, employee training, utilization of SPC for process improvement and upgrading your current skill base.Required to do a monthly safety observation throughout facility and communicate results to Safety Manager.Other projects/duties as assigned or required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage crewing schedule for shift.Personnel Management for shift.Must evaluate new-hires during introductory period (familiarize new-hires with current rules and regulations, and operational methods).Complete New Hire employee appraisals timely.Complete Annual Performance Appraisals of subordinates in a timely manner.Ensure appropriate training through Operator Training Program and other training as required.

The incumbent maintains a good working relationship with all Production Supervisors, the Sanitation Supervisor, Quality, Maintenance, Field and the Human Resources Department. An external relationship is maintained with Americold.
The incumbent maintains a degree of autonomy to meet fluctuating needs and to achieve a standard product flow through the various stages of Production and to Americold.
The incumbent demonstrates a strong background in employee relations, exhibits tact and good judgment, and functions in an atmosphere of firm, honest and fair relationships.
The greatest challenge to this position is to establish good lines of communication with other Supervisors and all employees by using the Company philosophy of MCE while maintaining standards of production and a safe, efficient environment within quality and sanitation guidelines.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Education: BA Degree or equivalent training and experience.Experience: Coordination of multiple production projects and operations is necessary. Positive proactive employee relations skills important. Knowledge and focus on sanitation and safety necessary. Problem solving and decision making skills are critical.Be able to manage conflict, change, people and systems in order to successfully meet quality requirements while adhering to the plant cost quality schedule.Be proficient with plant measurement systems, including, but not limited to Operator reports, key reports, Quality Reports, pack and recovery reports, etc.Possess computer skills at a moderate level with the ability to learn new programs as required. Preferred knowledge and skill with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook), and SAP.
AUTHORITY:
Authority to hire and discipline employees in consultation with the Shift Managers and Human Resources.Authority to enforce McCain policies and procedures.Has authority to start or stop lines under the direction of and accountable to the Shift Managers.Authority to make decisions regarding the following:Raw product movement and blendsProcess changesProduction issues such as materials, personnel, rework and dumpProduction laborResponsible to monitor work areas, area systems, and watch for suspicious behavior and report any concerns regarding unidentified visitors and/or unauthorized personnel.Will have the authority to question and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of you, other employees, all products, and equipment.Responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the food processing facility, especially where any raw or finished product is produced.Authority to report and/or eliminate hazards to the safety of the food that is produced in the facility.
