Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Production Supervisor for our IMM department. This role involves leading and directing team leaders and labor to ensure production volume, cost, and quality are met according to schedules and delivery dates.
ResponsibilitiesSupervise, lead, coach, and direct team leaders and labor regarding production volume, cost, quality, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports to the UAP Manager.Plan headcount, including managing absences, holidays, training, and workshops.Complete the Attendance Register daily.Complete ADP data entry daily (approve employee time and update employee schedules).Direct standardized work audits and ensure adherence to Standardized Work within the team.Work with Team Leaders to schedule rotation of Operators.Liaise with support functions (maintenance, HSE, quality, etc.) to resolve build issues and prevent recurrence.Oversee re-work when required.Manage the closure of line QRCI's and coach team leaders to react and resolve issues independently.Ensure team members respect the principles of 7 Quality Basics (OK First Part, Poka Yoke, Self-inspection, Final Inspection, Red Bins, Rework Under Control, QRCI).Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, 5S, and good housekeeping practices.Work to continuously improve in all areas, encouraging and following up on improvement ideas.Promote a safe work environment.Conduct disciplinary, return to work, and performance evaluation interviews with team members.Validate operator polyvalence levels and set polyvalence targets each week.Assist with any additional tasks as assigned by the company.Essential SkillsSupervision and production management experience in an automotive environment.Knowledge of UAW/union practices.Strong understanding of safety standards and continuous improvement principles.Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and process improvement.Ability to manage assembly processes efficiently.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work both independently and within a team.Why Work Here?
Our facility, built in 2012, spans 340,000 square feet and offers a clean, updated work environment. We employ approximately 1,000 staff across three shifts and provide two full-time nurses for any on-site injuries. Our plant operates under UAW Local 600, ensuring a structured and supportive work environment. With a 1.5-day lead time on all production, we maintain a semi-Just-In-Time system, promoting efficiency and continuous improvement.
Work Environment
The work environment is a clean and updated facility with a fast-paced atmosphere. You will be working on the plant floor, collaborating with a large team. The plant operates across three shifts and maintains high standards of safety and cleanliness. Dress code is aligned with safety and housekeeping practices.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
