Role Definition
Manages the day-to-day operations of the Large Structures Fabrication and Machining production line, prepares schedules, resolves issues, and ensures adherence to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
• Create reports and records of production processes, tools issues, performance, and inventory; share suggestions with managers and lead improvements to safety, productivity, and quality for assigned areas of accountability.
• Oversee operations activities, ensuring that safety, schedules, and performance requirements are met and that system resources are used effectively.
• Monitoring overall operations performance and implementing production safety, cost, and quality control mechanisms.
• Production Training, knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for delivering formal and informal training on the safe and efficient operation of production machinery; ability to conduct practical formal and situation-specific training.
• Ensures the compliance of all regulatory guidelines and forges a safe and sound manufacturing environment.
Skills Needed
• Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
• Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
• Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintain focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products, and services.
• Performance Management: Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply the organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
• Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment, and site.
• Manufacturing Standards, Procedures, and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedure,s and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance
• Production Training: Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for delivering formal and informal training on the safe and efficient operation of production machinery; ability to conduct effective formal and situation-specific training.
Minimum Requirements
• 0 - 2 years of experience leading or providing direct support to a highly skilled fabrication team in a production environment.
• Must have GED or equivalent.
Preferred Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or equivalent experience desired.
• Lean Manufacturing / Process Improvement Experience highly desired.
**Summary Pay Range:**
$76,542.00 - $114,814.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
