From your PASSION to ours The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing filler and packaging employees to maximize productivity on assigned shifts and areas. Key responsibilities include planning, assigning, and overseeing daily tasks, addressing product and employee concerns, and ensuring timely issue resolution. This role upholds company policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable laws while adhering to Continuous Improvement (CI) processes and the Management Operating Structure (MOS). This position requires working in the plant on weekends and two additional weekdays (four days total). From your EXPERTISE to ours Key responsibilities for this position include: + Fosters a productivity mindset by utilizing basic Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. + Maintains accurate training records and supports employee development by facilitating cross-training and refresher programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills. + Provides supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action, and performance management. + Engages in semi-annual performance reviews with direct reports and provides actionable feedback. + Provides training and guidance to employees on production processes and equipment standards. Ensures proper implementation and enforcement of company policies. + Drives accountability for production KPIs by coaching and engaging employees in process improvement initiatives. + Inspects products to ensure compliance with specifications and oversees machine setup and adjustments for optimal performance. + Coordinates production schedules and estimates labor requirements to ensure timely completion of job assignments. + Evaluates production needs for daily task assignments and modifies work procedures as necessary to meet production schedules. + Recommends enhancements to production processes, equipment efficiency, and product quality. + Maintains time and production records as required, i.e. payroll time approval and daily production reporting, safety incident reporting, etc. + Collaborates cross-functionally with Maintenance and QA to ensure new products and processes meet safety, quality, and production goals. + Follows appropriate escalation procedures for production, quality, personnel, and safety issues. + Leads by example with the Lactalis “Code of Quality”. This includes following company policies, standards, and specifications. + Takes full responsibility for the shift, making informed decisions to ensure safety, maintain quality standards, and achieve production targets. From your STORY to ours Qualified applicants will contribute the following: + Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma/GED required with a minimum of two years of plant supervisory experience. + At least two years of experience in food manufacturing; dairy production experience is a plus. + Experience with SQF or BRC audits is preferred. + Proven ability to lead and enforce Safety and Security Policies and Procedures. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications. + Strong understanding of Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, with the ability to identify, report, and follow up on deficiencies. + Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. + Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and effectively lead teams through change. + Must be able to conduct sensory testing of products, including tasting. + Strong organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail. + Effective team player and leader capable of working across multiple functions and disciplines. + Demonstrated ability to recruit, coach, develop, engage, and retain employees. + Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to facilitate interaction with senior management, customers, and suppliers. + Candidate must pass a company pre-employment physical and drug screening before beginning work. Physical Requirements: + Ability to stand, use hands, and stretch/reach with hands and arms regularly. Frequent need to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and the ability to talk, hear, climb, balance, and utilize the sense of smell as needed. + Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. + Ability to work in environments with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. + Ability to use all personal protective equipment provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations. Safe Quality Food (SQF) Requirements: + Maintain food safety and quality by performing job tasks and keeping the work area clean and sanitary. + Adhere to required food safety and sanitation clothing guidelines. + Comply with personal hygiene regulations necessary for food production. + Identify and report food safety concerns to personnel with the authority to take corrective action. + Enforce proper Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for all employees. + Ensure all food safety programs are properly implemented, upheld, and documented accurately.
