Description Under close supervision, performs routine SX/EW and Leach testing functions.  Duties include but are not limited to data collection, sample collection and preparation; mine site support and assist in the development and optimization of site processes. Assist in the collection of data and samples, which may include traveling to mine sitesAssist in preparation of samples for analysis using appropriate established techniques and methodsAssist in the installation and set-up of instruments and equipmentMay assist in maintaining laboratory, field instrumentation and equipmentMay enter data into spreadsheets/databases Follow and understand MSHA and OSHA rules and regulations, Environmental rules and regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work area instructionsParticipate in safety and environmental activitiesUse plant and laboratory equipment correctly at all timesPerform housekeeping and other duties as requiredQualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautionsAbility to successfully work in a team environment

 

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or GEDTroubleshoot and diagnosis of process instrumentation for process optimizationKnowledge in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers, transmitters, electrical testing, and loop checking Be able to assist in research and development of instrumentation, testing and deploymentTravel to mine sites to assist in development and installation projectsDemonstrated computational skills

 

Criteria/ConditionsAbility to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in EnglishAbility to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standardsMust be able to work in a potentially stressful environmentA valid driver's license is requiredAbility to travel to mine sites with occasional overnight stayWork is in an outdoor, laboratory or mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particlesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.Occasionally may be required to lift, push, pull or maneuver moderately heavy objects (up to 40 pounds) during the course of the workdayPersonal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as requiredFreeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $20.00 - $27.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. What We Require    

Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.   Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.   Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
