Job Description
The Production Technician ensures carriers are safely unloaded on the correct receiving line with the correct material, following standard operating procedures for equipment, machinery, and tools.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure that the respective receiving line is kernel cleaned before unloading a different material/tracking number.Stage the loading area by keeping a truck staged in the lane next to the truck being unloaded.Verify information on seed load ticket for accuracy and take it to the Sample Building.Open trailer doors, secure doors open after staging the truck, operate the pit controls, and monitor the rate of unloading.Abide by safety policies/procedures and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Comply with lock out/tag out and other equipment safety policies/processes.Maintain cleanliness of the work environment by sweeping and removing debris.Report any accidents, near-miss incidents, potential hazards, safety violations, or other concerns immediately.Participate in incident/accident investigations as necessary to find the root cause of incidents.Follow the direction of Supervisors for additional work duties as necessary.Essential Skills6+ months of manufacturing/industrial experienceAbility to climb and/or work in elevated areasAbility to stand/sit for extended periodsExperience operating machineryCapability to perform repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting (minimum requirement 50 lbs.)Ability to work in various weather and environmental conditions (e.g., heat, dust, cold)Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in production, forklift operation, manufacturing, general labor, assembly, packaging, hand tool usage, packing, heavy lifting, machine operation, and baggingWhy Work Here?
Consistent work year-round with the opportunity to be brought on direct based on good attendance and performance. The role offers a mix of machine operation, forklift, and general labor tasks.
Work Environment
Large corn production facility with 150+ people during the busy season, reducing to 70-80 in off-peak times. Candidates will train on day shift for the first week from 6 AM to 3 PM (7 AM on the first day only). Depending on the assigned shift, they will either stay on days or switch to night shift. The Panama schedule involves rotating from days to nights every 4 weeks. The position runs through mid to late March, takes a 6-week break, and then resumes normal production schedules mid-May for the rest of the year. Regular and reliable attendance is required. Transportation to and from the assignment location is the responsibility of the worker. Must adhere to all safety rules and policies.
