Production Technician
**Job Title: Production Technician** **Job Description** The Production Technician will be responsible for the efficient operation of a specialty chemicals plant. This role involves working with powdered chemicals used in the polymer making process, which is essential for plastics and waste water treatment plants. The technician must be capable of working at elevated heights and moving consistently between four levels of the facility. Initial responsibilities include shadowing other operators and documenting processes, with gradual progression to more independent tasks. **Responsibilities** + Operate plant machinery and equipment safely and efficiently. + Perform repetitive tasks and remain stationary for extended periods. + Open and close valves, monitor instrumentation panels, and report findings from gauges. + Dump 10-kilo bags into containers and utilize basic math skills to track and monitor plant data. + Follow procedures and stay current on operating, emergency, and safety protocols. + Climb ladders, operate forklifts, and perform manual duties involving lifting up to 50 lbs. + Perform maintenance on equipment as needed, including troubleshooting minor defects. + Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management. + Train for 1-2 full weeks before working independently. + Pass a physical, fit test, and pulmonary function test. + Wear a full face respirator or Tyvek hood and suit for 3-4 hours each day. **Essential Skills** + Ability to operate forklifts, industrial scales, power tools, and hand tools. + Mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance and minor repairs. + Basic math skills for tracking and monitoring data. + Capability to perform repetitive tasks and remain stationary for long periods. + Ability to work at elevated heights and move between facility levels. + Proficiency in following verbal and written instructions precisely. + Effective communication skills with all levels of staff and management. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Previous chemical experience is not required; open to trainable candidates. + Desire to learn and be trained in chemical operations. + Packaging experience is a plus. + Some electrical experience for instrumentation preferred. **Why Work Here?** Join a dynamic and supportive work environment that values employee growth and development. There are multiple levels to the plant, requiring frequent movement up and down stairs. The environment is typical of a chemical plant, with exposure to various chemicals, both hazardous and non-hazardous, as well as dust, noise, fluctuating temperatures, and flammable and toxic materials. The position involves working 8-hour rotating shifts, changing every two weeks between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, Virginia. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
