GENERAL FUNCTIONS

The primary focus of this position is to perform duties in a manufacturing environment, within areas include Surfacing, Finishing, and Coating. All duties and procedures are to be performed according to the established standard and in compliance with all company and governing body policies. It is required that this position maintain regular, prompt attendance and availability for overtime as needed. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coating: Clipping: Clip and secure lenses into baskets to begin the coating process. Machine Operator: Prepare and operate the coating machine to coat the lenses properly. Load machine chemicals Load and unload sectors with lenses Inspection: Inspect lenses prior to and immediately after coatings process to ensure that they are optically, cosmetically accurate, and in compliance with work ticket. Sandblasting: Disassemble and clean machines daily including the sandblasting of the parts. Finishing: Mounting: Accurately apply drill holes to the lenses to ensure proper fit and alignment of the lenses and insert lenses into the frame while ensuring proper fit. May utilize the bevel wheel to remove the sharp edges of the lens. Edging Operator: Operate a variety of edging machines to cut lenses down to proper size and shape to fit the appropriate frame. Finish Layout: prepare an uncut lens for the edging process by outlining the center/alignment markings and affixing the chuck/block. Tinting: Accurately tint all lenses going through the tinting department. Inspection: Inspect lenses and frames to ensure that they are optically and cosmetically accurate. Specialty: Operate a variety of machines to cut lenses down to proper size and shape to fit the appropriate frame and insert the lenses into the specific frame ensuring proper fit for all difficult and/or priority jobs. Surfacing: Lens Preparation: Prepare Lens for surfacing process which includes de-boxing of product, taping exposed lens, and tray up. Machine Operator: Taping: Operate taping equipment to apply protective tape to the front of the lenses. Surfacing Blocker: Utilize the blocking machine to accurately secure a block to all lenses going through the surfacing department. Generator Operator: Operate the generator machine used to cut the lenses to the correct prescription. Surface Finer/Polisher: Operate the equipment used to fine and polish all lenses going through the surfacing department. Spin Coat Operator: Operate the coating machine to apply spin coat and perform a cosmetic inspection of the lenses. Lens Washer: Hand wash and dry lenses followed by a brief cosmetic inspection of the lenses. Grasp lens with de-blocking cup and strike against table to remove block from lenses. Remove tape from lenses.  Inspection: Inspect lenses to ensure that they are optically, cosmetically accurate, and in compliance with work ticket.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Competent in 60% of the assigned job tasks listed above or highly skilled in a specialized area. 3-5 years of experience in a Manufacturing/Production environment preferred. Basic Qualifications of an Associate Technician.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School education or equivalent. Previous related experience and/or training.

Pay Range: $18.32 - $23.69

 

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
