About IPSD:
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:
As a Production Technician III within the Power Generation team in Seguin, Texas, you will play a critical role in the assembly and wiring of control panels for Caterpillar power generator systems. Responsibilities include interpreting technical blueprints and schematics, performing precise wiring and component installation, and ensuring control panel assemblies meet quality standards and customer specifications. This role supports Caterpillar’s commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable power solutions by maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to safety protocols throughout the assembly process. Production Technicians report to Section Managers and collaborate closely with team members to meet production goals and customer demands.
What you will do:
Align and secure components as directed by work instructionAlign and install gaskets, seals, bearings, hoses, covers, and visual componentsEnsure that parts and materials used in the assembly process are free from quality defectsAssist other departments with problem solving or improvement ideas related to assemblyVerify correct alignment of engine components using engine schematics and part printsInspect parts and materials to ensure they are free from quality defectsPerform audits and carry out quality inspections to correct known defectsPerform torque audits, leak tests, and visual inspection on all enginesFollow standard operating procedures and area specific work instructionsMaintain and improve the integrity and reliability of process controls within the production process to ensure customer protectionPerform Plan/Method Audits of the production processes to ensure critical to customer actions are occurring correctlyLead and support Caterpillar Production System continuous improvement activitiesProvide support to quality issues identified on the production line as neededEscalate issues and the necessary resources to root cause and develop counter measures.Provide information to supervisors and managers about processes within assigned areaCreate quality alerts per established guidelines to maintain operator awarenessExecute special studies as directed by Section Managers to understand line performanceMonitor quality performance of the line (reject activity, holds, etc.) and react to issues accordinglyAll other duties as assignedWhat you will have:

Experience utilizing PLEX12-24 months Manufacturing/Assembly experience or equivalent educationDemonstrated experience with wiring and assembling control panels or electrical systems in a production or industrial settingProficiency in reading, interpreting, and understanding blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate and efficient assemblyPhysical Requirements:
