Boart Longyear is looking to hire a Temporary Production Tooling Specialist in our Mississauga, Ontario location. This is a temporary  six month position.  This key position is part of the global product management team for the Products division, collaborating cross-functionally across Boart Longyear. Interactions are frequent with Engineering, Production Drilling Services, 3rd party customers, Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing.

This is a qualified technical role that also requires business acumen and interpersonal skills. Product support responsibilities cover the full product line, with focus on the drilling consumables used in top hammer drilling. Specific focus will shift over time depending on needs, problems, and opportunities, but will include elements of field testing, inventory control, and sales support.

Responsibilities
 Establish strong protocols for field trials, including objectives, feedback, and accelerated commercial conversions.Personally attend new products field testing and contracts performance testing to support local resources.Support & coordinate inventory planning and supply for new mining contracts.Ensure stable and accurate product costing (data integrity).Drive SKU level cost-out initiatives and support value engineering.Coordinate SKU management outside the Engineering and Oracle teams, driving reactivation, substitution, and other flags.Track high-dollar inventory items.Monitor and update ROPs during phase-in and phase-out.Identify, flag, and support to address unhealthy inventory, including rebalancing, substitution, or discounting.Identify learnings from warranties & concessions and align corrective actions with Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Sales.Create or review technical content for Marketing, including presentations, technical material such as specifications, and commercial content such as case stories and customer references. Provide or correct technical data.Develop technical training materials for new and existing employees, including salesmen, CSRs, and engineers.Evaluate competitor offering and value propositions, aligned with customer needs and wants, to identify Boart Longyear opportunities.Create high-level marketing contents, such as technical articles and conference papers. Build and provide value calculators.Provide applications and product expertise for major tenders and contracts.Minimum QualificationsMust be authorized to work in CanadaMust have valid Driver’s License5+ years of relevant experience in mining, construction, civil engineering, or similar. Practical experience with rock drilling or tools a bonus.Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Mining, or Industrial Engineering.Experience with industrial physical and consumable products, ideally with an understanding of items that wear or deteriorate due to applications damage.Understanding engineering processes, from conceptualization, design, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics to field testing and feedback.Detail oriented to ensure systems, specifications, and data are valid.Strong communication and writing skills. Proven ability to inform, train, and interact with people at all levels, from operators to senior managers. Ability to filter information and condense into decisions and actions.Ability to set up clear processes and protocols. Create clear expectations.Creative and critical mindset to proactively avoid problems or find solutions.Demonstrated leadership and strong project management skillset.Ability to work cross-functionally on multiple projects with tight deadlines. Follows up and holds others to timelines.Research skills and the ability to analyze, summarize and consolidate information.Available to travel domestically and internationally.
