Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Melter Tech (Air Melt) to join our Howmet Alloy plant in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Afternoon Shift position are Monday to Friday 2PM-1030PM. Training M-F 1st Shift.
This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off-shift.

The Melter Technician’s role is to Charge, operate, maintain, and clean melting and related equipment in accordance with Vacuum Alloy Manufacturing Process documented procedures and are responsible for daily operation of the vacuum furnaces.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles; Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations. Wear all required personal protective equipment; Report all job-related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook); Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner; Attend all EH&S training.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Monitor operation of equipment and perform adjustments as needed to insure equipment effectiveness. Maintain and repair refractory as needed. Make major/minor refractory repairs to furnaces and top caps. Furnish Lab prelim requirements. Document and maintain accurate records and logs and maintain a clean and orderly work environment Perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment. Perform welding of charges. Perform cutting and identification of finished barstock. Verify weighed charge is accurate and correct. Perform furnace changes, which may include knock out and installation of new refractory. Install, remove, and monitor operation of preheat torches on AIM furnaces and ladles. Perform metal weighing of additions (if qualified). Perform AOD refining, including operation of CRT/PC to adjust chemistry. Some data entry of melt card/log required. Assembly, installation and adjustment of dies and molds for the purposes of barcasting. Operate and maintain barcast console. May be required to assist on multiple furnaces during the course of a work day. Perform emergency and remedial procedures which may arise during the melting process. Assist in the training of new team members. Any other duties as assigned by Team Leader/Supervision. Assist in the training of new team members as needed.
