Job Summary/Goals

The key objective of the role is to provide direction and guidance to the NL business on HSSE issues within the workplace; to educate, inform, support, manage, and report upon standards of HSSE and enforce compliance with legal requirements and company policies.

As the HSSE manager for Tetris Netherlands, your main responsibility is to ensure a continued process of improvement and consistency in the standards of HSSE management within the business.

The role requires active participation at all levels, from strategy through to implementation, as well as actively influencing and motivating a variety of people to ensure commitment to the overall HSSE management of the business.

You are expected to build effective relationships with other HSSE personnel within Tetris and JLL, and to help clients, subcontractors and partners where appropriate.

You will serve as the expert within the field of HSSE, when called upon to address regulatory and voluntary compliance issues.  Your customers include each person within Tetris.  The more you can support them, you more they can in turn support our clients and meet the needs of the business.

You will report into Tetris EMEA HSSE Lead (solid line) and Tetris Netherlands Managing Director (matrix).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Regularly review management systems to ensure continual compliance with relevant legislation and accreditations such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and coordinate external audits by interested parties.Help Tetris identify employee development and training needs and be the lead for the annual training budget review to ensure that Tetris NL has sufficient and appropriate qualified personnel, as agreed with the NL Senior Management Team, to conduct our work safely and to support client needs.Support all project teams in producing relevant HSSE project documentation including Construction Phase, Environmental, and Fire and Emergency Plans.Support project teams for accidents, incidents and near misses and personally investigate major accidents and incidents in order to produce relevant reports for interested parties as required.Support the Commercial Team by conducting HSSE reviews on subcontractors and suppliers who intend to join our supply chain, offering suppliers improvement advice to meet our requirements.Help project teams identify, evaluate, record and review environmentally sensitive activities of the project scope of work and ensure assessment is included within project risk assessments.  Environmental protection is to be monitored during projects as appropriate.Produce HSSE Action Plans and review them regularly with the Senior Management Team, initiating improvement actions to meet targets where appropriate.Communicate relevant HSSE information throughout the organisation and promote HSSE awareness through various communication channels i.e. Toolbox Talks, inductions, training, campaigns, flyers, discussions, emails, etc. in consultation with all relevant departments.Record HSSE key performance indicators on a monthly basis and issue reports as necessary, including Accident Frequency Reports.Conduct and record HSSE visits to sites, identifying improvement actions and best practices for subsequent use on other projects.Develop, implement and encourage improvement in the behavioural based safety culture throughout the business, through safety observations, inspections and audits.

Good team management skills are required.  The ability to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate with peers to influence decisions or ways of working is essential.You must be able to demonstrate leadership, supervision and facilitation skills and can communicate clearly and concisely, using all available methods.The ability to be able to problem solve, interpret complex issues and motivate others to improve their capabilities is essential.You must be able to work effectively in a multicultural team environment and have good interpersonal and conflict handling skills with the ability to have difficult conversations. You must be able to maintain an uncompromised level of confidentiality and integrity related to all Tetris information and operations in general and lead by example.A high level of competency and accuracy in writing and maintaining clear and professional documentation relating to integrated management systems is expected.You should have the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and remain flexible to business needs.You should be self-motivated and be able to work unsupervised and under pressure, which will be key to your success.

Experience

Experience within the construction industry is essential, preferably with recent office, retail and hotel fit out experience.  A wide knowledge of construction techniques across the industry is advantageous.

Ideally, you will have experience, and preferably qualifications in auditing and maintaining ISO Management Systems, as this will be a part of your role.

Desirable

Degree level occupational health and safety qualification.A Lead Auditor qualification for either ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001.Sustainability or Environmental management qualifications.A relevant award in Education and Training.Training in Accident, Incident and Near Miss reporting.Lean Organisation Management or equivalent training.Knowledge and experience of applying for RoSPA safety awards.
