Preferences: + Two (2) years of professional payroll, accounting, and auditing experience in an office setting. + Experience with Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR). + Experience with Microsoft Suite specifically Excel. + Experience with Payroll/Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Forms such as W-2, W-2c, 941, 941x, W-4, and 1099. + Professional experience in compiling and analyzing fiscal data. + A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment. Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: + Knowledge of accounting and tax research skills. + Knowledge and proven abilities of accounting and auditing practices. + Knowledge of payroll/IRS forms such as 941, 941x, W-4, W-2, W-2c, and 1099. + Knowledge of personal computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. + Ability to analyze and evaluate accounting systems. + Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate financial and operational data. + Ability to communicate with employees both individually and in staff meetings. + Ability to work independently. + Ability to communicate effectively. + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This is a professional accounting/auditing position requiring independent application of accounting and auditing concepts, principles, theory, and technical skills. Requires knowledge of federal taxation and reporting procedures, Florida Statutes, Comptroller/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) memoranda, and Internal Revenue Code. Requires tax research skills involving employer and employee payroll tax reporting to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). A working knowledge of mainframe and personal computer applications and an understanding of payroll/IRS reporting such as W-2, W-2C, W-4, 941, 941x, and 1099.
