Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
The Marketing and Communications Office in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences is seeking a part-time content editor to proofread, edit and fact-check content for accuracy and clarity. The content editor will review articles, social media posts, emails, etc. that are produced by the office, as well as writing articles and social media posts. The content editor’s primary responsibilities are proofreading and editing material through their various stages all the way from conceptualization to their publication, ensuring high quality content. The editor will also assist in the production of the monthly newsletter.

Content Editor Job Responsibilities and Duties
+ Proofreads and edits the work of content writers
+ Fact checks and verifies information and research
+ Contributes new ideas for future publications
+ Writes articles and social posts to promote stories about our alumni, current students, faculty, and staff
+ Proofreads, re-structures and edits articles by content writers
+ Updates our website and social media pages with new content
+ Assists in crafting our monthly newsletter
+ Interviews industry professionals and uses online sources to research topics
+ Optimizes published pieces using SEO guidelines
+ Aids in managing the editorial calendar
+ Generates new content ideas
Desired Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or related field
+ Minimum 1 year of experience as an editor, publisher, or similar position
+ Hands-on experience with MS Office and publishing tools
+ Excellent writing and proofreading skills
+ Strong communication skills both written and verbal
+ Knowledgeable about various social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram)
+ Knowledge of working in a content management system or ability to learn
+ Team player
+ Highly organized
