Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
The Molecular and Evolutionary Ecology (MEER) Lab at Michigan State University seeks a laboratory-based professional aide to assist in genotyping fish samples for a range of grant funded projects. Primary duties of the successful applicant will perform DNA extractions and generate DNA sequencing libraries using genotyping-in-thousands by sequence and restriction site-associated DNA sequencing methods. Additional tasks may be designated to support general laboratory functions. Professional aides can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months. Further extension of the position may be possible given adequate candidate performance and available funding
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree including laboratory-based coursework
Experience working in a genetics laboratory, including use of thermal cyclers and pipettes to carry out PCR is preferred. Bioinformatics and general coding experience is desired but not strictly necessary.
