SCCC REFERENCE #: 24-56 DATE: October 16, 2024 TITLE: Professional Assistant - Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness CAMPUS: Ammerman Campus in Selden START DATE: ASAP TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full Time RANK: Faculty POSITION DESCRIPTION: Announcement is hereby made for a full-time, 12-month, Professional Assistant position in the Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness located on the Ammerman Campus in Selden. Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs. This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the college. This position will report to the Assistant to the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, and will provide support in the areas of institutional research, data analysis, institutional effectiveness, and survey research. This position is required to work with a team of professionals to gather, analyze, distribute and communicate institutional data in a timely manner in order to assist the College in making data-informed decisions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to prioritize their workload, have experience with using SQL to extract data from Banner/ODS, utilizing SPSS and/or Excel to conduct data analysis, and creating dashboards. In addition, ideal candidate will understand the importance of institutional assessment, and demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team & show strong attention to detail. Job Responsibilities: + Gather and analyze data to support institutional ad hoc requests for programs, populations and committees including (but not limited to): ASAP, EOP, Military and Veterans, First-generation, Strategic Enrollment Management Committee, Equity and Inclusion Council, Strategic Planning Council, and the like. + Assist the OPIE team in supporting the college’s institutional goals of creating a data-driven environment by conducting environmental scans, assisting with long-term enrollment projections, and outlining best practices to enhance institutional decision-making. + Using Power BI, assist with creating and updating the college’s dashboards. In collaboration with the VP of OPIE, communicate these updates to the college community. + Collaborate with OPIE team members to coordinate institutional survey research projects and grant-funded survey initiatives, including survey design, distribution, data collection and analysis. + Assist with institutional planning and assessment initiatives, including the gathering, analyzing, and disseminating of data for internal stakeholders and external agencies (i.e., Middle States). + Develop and maintain effective working relationships through communication and interaction with College departments, groups and personnel for whom tasks and assignments are assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required + Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, mathematics, business, social sciences or related field requiring coursework in quantitative analysis. + Two (2) Years of professional experience supporting educational research, data analytics, measurement of key performance indicators, and supporting offices and departments through data gathering. Preferred + Experience working with Higher Education systems and software, i.e. Ellucian Banner, Oracle Developer System (ODS) and/or an ERP. + Experience using SPSS, working with large data sets + Experience using Power BI, Tableau or a data visualization platform. HIRING SALARY: This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the College.
