PURPOSE
The Professional Counselor I/II , under general supervision, is responsible for providing psychological treatment and crisis intervention to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi students, consultation and outreach services to the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi community, clinical supervision to practicum/intern trainees, coordination of a designated program area, and specialized counseling services consistent with area(s) of clinical expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Professional Counseling - 60%
+ Provide professional counseling services including intake and clinical assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, brief individual and group counseling, consultation, and referrals.
+ Maintain documentation of services within electronic medical records system in an accurate and timely manner.
+ Provide specialized counseling services within area(s) of clinical expertise.
+ Provide triage counselor-on-duty services. Participate in weekly case conferences and informal case consultation to coordinate client care.
+ Participate in continuing education and professional development activities related to the performance of job functions and maintenance of skills in professional specialty area.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Designated Program Coordinator - 20%
+ Oversee strategic planning, programmatic assessment, and coordination of designated program area and services.
+ Review and update designated program policies and procedures.
Professional and Clinical Supervision - 10%
+ Provide clinical supervision to master’s and doctoral level practicum students/interns as assigned.
+ Provide professional supervision to student worker or graduate assistant, as needed to support the department.
+ Provide consultation and informal supervision to administrative and clinical staff as needed to support the department.
Consultation and Outreach - 10%
+ Provide consultation and outreach services to students, campus and community members related to mental health issues and student concerns.
+ Participates in additional departmental committees and meetings, division and university committees as assigned.
Qualifications
Professional Counselor I
+ Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or other specialty related to job function.
+ Practical/field placement relevant to college counseling, or supervised experience related to job function.
+ Licensed as Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. Must maintain licensure for continued employment.
Professional Counselor II
+ Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or other specialty related to job function.
+ LPC’s must have completed at least 3000 clock hours of post-licensure clinical mental health experience in no less than 18 months of supervision. LMFT’s must have completed 3000 clock hours of full-time post-licensure clinical experience in no less than 24 months with 200 hours of supervision. LCSW’s must have completed at least one year of supervised clinical experience with 100 hours of supervision and have passed their state board exam.
+ Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Must maintain licensure for continued employment.
Other:
+ Demonstrated experience in brief therapy and/or solution focused therapy with adults in an outpatient setting.
+ Demonstrated experience assessing and treating a wide variety of clinical conditions.
+ Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention.
+ Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) to be able to effectively collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment and the campus community.
+ Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records systems
+ Knowledge and experience with telemental health platforms and providing telemental health services.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Licensed as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas or able to obtain this licensure in Texas within six months of hire if licensed in another state.
+ Two (2) or more years of post-graduate experience in social work, counseling, or other mental health agency.
+ Experience providing counseling services as a professional staff member in a university setting.
+ Experience in assessment and intervention of individuals with serious mental health concerns and/or a history of trauma.
+ Demonstrated program development and coordination skills.
+ Advanced clinical training and experience in specialized area (e.g., trauma, eating disorders, OCD, AOD)
+ Advanced clinical training, experience and certification in an evidence based therapy modality (e.g., EMDR, DBT, ACT, CBT).
+ Experience providing clinical supervision to master’s level counseling and psychology trainees utilizing a multiculturally competent approach.
SALARY RANGE: $49,000 - $60,000/Annually (Commensurate with experience and qualifications)
+ $4,083.33 - $5,000 Monthly
