Yes County Erie Street Address 950-A Union Road City West Seneca State NY Zip Code 14224 Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)* and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:Applicants must have a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current New York State Education Department registration AND one of the following:• qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below, OR• one year of full-time qualifying experience as listed below.Qualifying degrees: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees.Qualifying experience: New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration and one year of full-time engineering experience in the analysis and design of steel framing, concrete framing, concrete foundations, and seismic designApplicants may be appointed to this position if currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title OR are a current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 24 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.*Possession of a NYS Professional Engineer’s license with current registration is required Duties Description • Analyze and appraise the structural designs and specification requirements for large complex, multi trade (new or rehabilitated) building construction projects. • Identify and resolve potential structural design and specifications problems, including cost effectiveness to structural material problems, structural systems, and/or equipment. • Review structural design change orders for resulting from design changes and change order requests during the design and building construction phases for accuracy and efficiency. • Supervise and direct subordinate Building Structural Engineers and Drafting Technicians to prepare structural designs and specifications used in the structural installation of new and/or rehabilitation building construction projects. • Assign, review, and manage Consultant Design work. • Perform a full range of supervisory duties.• Perform other duties as assigned.• Frequent travel is required. Additional Comments There is no examination required for appointment to a NY HELPS position. Candidates hired via NY HELPS will be appointed on a permanent non-competitive basis and will begin a probationary period.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that NY HELPS employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
