Location: Rochester, NY Category: Professional Tutor Posted On: Thu Dec 8 2022 Job Description: Summary and Purpose of the Position: Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Professional Tutors are staff who work with students to help them to develop effective learning strategies, to become self-regulated learners. These tutors help students with discipline-specific content. Function of Position: + Foster the development of independent, intentional learners + Help students understand and use effective learning strategies + Provide tutor assistance in subject areas in one-on-one and group settings + Nursing - course specific as identified by faculty + Develop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and faculty + Attend training activities to comply with certification requirements before and/or during semesters + Collaborate with faculty on providing workshops and in setting tutoring expectations + Adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor Handbook + Promote critical thinking and problem solving + Help to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific content MCC Expectations: + Adheres to the College Code of Conduct. + Contributes to, supports, and maintains an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative College environment. + Maintains technological competencies utilized by the College. + Commits to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college. + Commits to professional growth. which includes seeking ongoing training in diversity, equity and inclusion to better serve students.
