Professional Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

Gordian’s NSR team sits at the front line of critical research and QS initiatives supporting Gordian’s cost data products in the United Kingdom. In the process of developing construction schedules, our Quantity Surveyors are responsible for gathering information about material, plant, and labour through direct interaction with suppliers as well as internet research from existing and developed sources across the country. They will need to enter the acquired data into our database, and be extremely accurate with details including rate, start dates, sources, and integrate this data with other relevant engineered information. In this role, Quantity Surveyors also support current and future clients from initial contact through fulfillment phases of MTC projects. 

 

Gordian’s NSR team is in a high growth phase and looking for quantity surveyors willing to enhance their skills, foster new and existing industry relationships, and develop deep insight into construction cost data and trends.

 

Responsibilities:

Developing new NRM rates within the NSR schedules. Research, data entry, updating or enhancing NSR schedules. Review and research costs on a recurring basis through a prescribed time frame and efficient manner. Work directly with clients and internal resources to support special projects developing new NRM schedule tasks and procurement items. Provide support for internal and external customers. Effectively apply technical knowledge to solve a range of problems. Consistently consider new ideas and methodologies, implement complete solutions, and serve as a go-to for problem solving assistance for others.

Qualifications:

Degree in a Construction-related discipline, preferably Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.  5-7 years’ experience in quantity surveying or construction cost management with experience working with NRM2 and NRM3 schedules. RICS Accreditation preferred but not required.  Strong understanding of construction contracts and cost management; experience with Measured Term Contracts preferred but not required.  Proficient with the Microsoft Office tools, enterprise systems and the ability and willingness to learn new programs. Exceptional attention to detail, the ability to track data quality and results. Proven problem-solving skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. The ability to manage multiple ongoing projects, achieve deadlines effectively and the knowledge of when to escalate issues. Excellent communication skills, and a desire to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
