UPMC Hamot, a Magnet-designated hospital, is currently looking for an experienced nurse for the CVICU, a Beacon designated unit! This opportunity follows a robust nursing career ladder, with the possibility for continued growth and advancement. 

This position is full-time, rotating days and nights.

We are the first hospital in the nation to use new, groundbreaking robotic technology for earlier detection of lung cancer. Title and salary will be determined based on education and nursing experience.  

Responsibilities:

Actively participates in department-specific quality improvement initiatives and identifies opportunities for enhancement. Takes responsibility for improving patient satisfaction with care and service. Utilizes evidence-based practice to support clinical improvements, contributing to multidisciplinary discussions and influencing patient care plans.

Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship-Based Care to create a healing environment. Develops daily goals and care plans in collaboration with patients, addressing their individual needs holistically. Demonstrates critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues during care. Communicates effectively with the care team to discuss patient conditions and recommend care adjustments. Maintains thorough patient documentation to enhance caregiver communication. Aligns practices with national standards and organizational goals to improve safety, quality, and patient satisfaction.

Builds productive, accountable relationships with patients, families, and colleagues by demonstrating enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment. Recognizes and respects cultural differences, fostering healthy relationships within the team. Strives for a work-life balance and models safe practices, time management, and healthy lifestyles. Reports workplace safety hazards as necessary.

Demonstrates accountability for professional development, actively participating in unit-based governance and goal-setting processes. Supports changes to improve patient care and the work environment. Acts as a collaborative partner within the care team, willingly assisting colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Applies adult learning principles in educating patients, families, students, and new staff. Provides comprehensive teaching to guide patients through care episodes and transitions. Supports the development of colleagues, including serving as a preceptor. Promotes a culture of open dialogue, feedback, and continuous professional growth.
