Professional Staff Nurse, Expert -Labor & Delivery
UPMC Hamot is hiring an Expert Professional Staff Nurse to join our dedicated Labor & Delivery team at the Women's Hospital. In this role, you will support laboring patients, as well as in antepartum and OB triage. They are responsible for setting the standards and quality of nursing care, leading and managing patient care activities, and driving process improvements. This role involves exercising independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members, including physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and their families, to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned. + Minimum of 4 years of experience required. + BSN preferred; a Master's degree in nursing or a related field may substitute for certification. + Annual completion of a professional contribution aligned with department, hospital, or system goals, approved by the Unit Director. + UPMC-approved nursing certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer unless a Master's in nursing or DNP is held. + Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care based on patient needs and department policies. + Requires a Solid/Strong/Good or higher rating on the Professional Staff Nurse Performance Evaluation for promotion and to maintain status. + Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with executives, managers, physicians, support staff, and patients/families. + Must work effectively in a complex environment, handling multiple and changing priorities, and using specialized equipment. + Requires exemplary clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. + Must possess physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within one year of hire or transfer. + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. + Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within one year of hire or transfer. + Registered Nurse (RN) + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal + Act 33 with renewal + Act 34 + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal + Obtain a UPMC-approved nursing certification within one year of hire/transfer and maintain it. Certification is not required if a Master's in Nursing or DNP is held. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for certification if a BSN is held. *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
