Job Description:

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for multiple 12-month, time-limited, non-tenure track, full-time, Professor of Practice in the Florida Applied Research in Engineering (FLARE) Unit. Initial appointment is for one year, and annual reappointment is expected based on availability and performance.

FLARE focuses on proprietary, applied, and classified research in partnership with faculty and student talent. FLARE is seeking non-tenure-track (NTT) subject matter expert (SME) program area leads to develop the strategy, talent, research, and education activities in one or more of the following focus areas:

-Networked and Collaborative Systems -S&T Munitions and Manufacturing -Software Enabled Functionality -Full Spectrum Digital Engineering -Advanced Sensors & Info Processing

Other areas in aerospace engineering, material science, intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) or computational science will be considered if a mature and active history of applied and classified research and development can be demonstrated.

Expected Salary:

Salary to commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: A Master’s Degree in one or more focus area disciplines and 10+ years of experience. Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications: A Ph.D. in one or more focus area disciplines and with experience in pursuing, capturing, and leading complex, multidisciplinary applied and classified research.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in successfully shaping vision for, winning, and executing large research efforts (multimillion annually) in collaboration with industry, government, academia, and small businesses partners.  Due to the nature of the anticipated research (Department of Defense, Department of Energy, NASA, etc.), applicants must currently possess or be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance as well as have an ability to maintain the Secret clearance requirements.
