Recruitment/Posting Title Professor of Practice Department SEBS-Agricultural Econ & Mktg Salary Commensurate With Experience Posting Summary The Department of Agricultural Economics is actively recruiting for the position of Professor of Practice in Environmental Economics, specifically seeking a candidate with strong expertise in combining experimental and theoretical techniques to elucidate the role of sustainable biomass and components of waste, including food waste and plastic waste, in achieving a circular-low-carbon energy economy. This non-tenure track role is strategically designed to explore and enhance the intersection of environment, economics, and various related fields. The successful candidate will contribute valuable insights to areas such as Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) of bio-power, bio-heat, biofuels, and bio-based materials to gain insight into their carbon footprint; Energy-Water-Food Nexus; development of sustainable biomass-to-energy technologies for clean chemicals and power generation, development of low-carbon transportation fuels and manufacture of bio-based materials as an integral part of mitigating adverse effects of climate change and achieving energy security, sustainable development, and resiliency.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching: The Professor of Practice will play a pivotal role in delivering high-caliber instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Emphasis will be placed on developing and implementing courses that integrate sustainability and tools. The candidate is expected to employ innovative teaching methodologies that foster student engagement and cultivate a deep understanding of the intricate connections between environment and economics.
Research: This position calls for a commitment to cutting-edge research endeavors. The Professor of Practice will conduct rigorous research and demonstration projects that leverage expertise in combining experimental and theoretical techniques to elucidate the role of sustainable biomass and components of waste, including food waste and plastic waste, in achieving a circular-low-carbon energy economy. Dissemination of findings through publications in reputable academic journals and presentations at conferences is integral to the role. Collaborative research initiatives with fellow faculty members and external researchers will contribute to the academic vibrancy of the department.
Advising: A key aspect of this role is to provide academic and career advising to students with an interest in environmental economics applications within the economic landscape. The Professor of Practice will actively mentor students in their research projects, guiding them toward academic excellence and assisting in their professional development. A supportive and engaging advising approach will contribute to the overall success and growth of students.
Service: Active participation in departmental and university service activities is expected. The Professor of Practice will contribute to in state, regional, national, and international committees, attend departmental meetings, and engage in collaborative initiatives that enhance the academic community. By actively participating in service activities, the candidate will contribute to the overall academic culture and development of the department.
