The Richard A. and Susan F. Smith Center for Outcomes Research at BIDMC is seeking a Program Administrator, Research.  The Smith Center is devoted to addressing the most pressing issues in cardiovascular care through innovative and rigorous analysis of data. The Program Administrator will engage in a variety of collaborative research projects working closely with clinician investigators, statisticians, administrative staff and trainees. The Smith Center faculty are highly active in nationally recognized cardiovascular research and produce numerous important publications each year. As Program Administrator you will have a key role in helping produce high-impact research. Our research is funded by various organizations including the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, and the US Food & Drug Administration, as well as grants and contracts from the health science industry. The individual will responsible for the activities of the the Section of Health Economics (led by Dr. Kazi) and the Causal Inference Working Group (led by Drs Yeh and Kazi). The Health Economics section combines the use of real-world data with advanced statistical, econometric, and epidemiological methods to answer questions related to healthcare quality and value as well as population cardiovascular health. Our work, primarily funded by the NIH: 1) examines the epidemiology of cardiovascular risk factors and outcomes in the US, 2) evaluates the real-world comparative effectiveness of novel treatments, including in high-risk or underserved populations; and 3) projects the health and economic effects of clinical and policy interventions, including the long-term cost effectiveness of cardiovascular prevention and treatment. Our research is regularly cited in national clinical guidelines and has meaningfully influenced drug pricing and access. The Causal Inference Working Group focuses on the use of novel methods from epidemiology and econometrics to evaluate the real-world effectiveness of cardiovascular drugs or devices using health care claims or registry data. This body of work of this group has been hugely influential in regulatory decision-making by the FDA. The Program Administrator will help manage research projects including managing the timeline for data acquisition, statistical analyses, publications, and presentations, coordinating collaborative meetings as needed, and participating in dissemination activities. The variety of tasks associated with this position include but are not limited to the following: assisting with IRB communications and documentation, coordinating in-person or zoom research meetings with investigators and trainees, writing progress reports when needed, assisting with scientific writing (including drafting manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and PowerPoint presentations), assistance with grant applications, administrative tasks such as calendar management and reimbursements. **Job Description:** **Essential Responsibilities:** 1. Serve as the administrative resource and liaison for the program, interacting with all levels of personnel, both internal and external. 2. Develop, organize and implement administrative processes and systems to ensure the smooth flow of operations. 3. Plan and organize program events, including publicity, agenda, invitations, speakers, presentation materials, schedule travel arrangements, and process reimbursements. 4. Monitor the program budget and accounts. Authorize, monitor and report all expense items. 5. Assists with grant submissions, preparation of annual progress reports, and expense accounting for the grant. **Required Qualifications:** 1. Bachelor's degree required in Life Sciences. 2. 1-3 years related work experience required. 3. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access. **Preferred Qualifications:** 1. Previous experience in the research environment, preferably in academic or healthcare settting. 2. Previous experience with grant submission process. **Competencies:** 1. **Written Communications:** Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers. 2. **Oral Communications:** Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers. 3. **Knowledge:** Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations. 4. **Team Work:** Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments. 5. **Customer Service:** Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner. **Physical Nature of the Job:** Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects.
