About the NICE Program The Neighborhood Intergenerational Chore & Errand (NICE) Program connects youth with seniors in their community to foster intergenerational relationships and support independent living. Seniors receive assistance with daily tasks such as laundry and grocery shopping, while teens gain valuable work experience, job training, and life skills. This program strengthens community ties and challenges generational stereotypes through meaningful engagement. Position Overview We are seeking a committed Program Aide to work both remotely and in-person, assisting senior clients with essential services while fostering meaningful connections. This role is ideal for students who are passionate about community service and interested in building leadership skills. Key Responsibilities + Maintain regular communication with supervisors and assigned clients. + Assist seniors with tasks such as grocery shopping, home supply errands, and prescription pickups, ensuring no-contact delivery when necessary. + Provide companionship through remote activities, wellness calls, and virtual events. + Accurately document client interactions and service updates in provided systems. + Participate in required trainings and staff meetings. + Adhere to QCH’s COVID-19 safety protocols, including the use of masks and gloves for no-contact deliveries. + Encourage seniors to engage in intergenerational activities that promote community connection. + Complete necessary forms and documents in a timely manner. + Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications + Must be currently enrolled in high school. + Must have valid working papers, clear reference checks, and commit to at least one year of employment. + (Preferred) Two years of experience working or volunteering with seniors. + Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds is a plus. + Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skills. + Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion. + Willingness to assist with errands, shopping, laundry, and administrative tasks. + Positive attitude, patience, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Availability for occasional morning, evening, or weekend meetings and trainings.
