TITLE:   Program Aide Shift Leader

 

 

·       Effective communication skills (Verbal and Written)

·       Basic computer knowledge and skills to include word/excel

·       One year Program Aide experience / previous supervisory or leadership experience

·       Ensures that Program Aides maintain their post(s) and coordinates coverage during meal breaks, reliefs and absences.

·       Knowledgeable in procedures necessary to perform and oversee the safety of clients and staff in all JBRC residential facilities. Demonstrates knowledge of and assures adherence to JBRC policy and procedures.

·       Capable of evaluating staff and identifying training needs.

·       Capable of writing and submitting concise and accurate reports within the required timeframes.

·       Ability to establish and maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with all employees.

·       Ability to deliver service in a way that is responsive, respectful, caring and helpful, while maintaining confidentiality.

·       Ability to be respectful of diverse cultures, ethnic, and religious backgrounds as well as alternative lifestyles.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Aide Shift Leader is responsible for Program Aide Shift staff, client safety, monitoring client behavior, movement and assisting counselors with various aspects of client activities as needed, under the direction and supervision of the Program Aide Supervisor,

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for Program Aide Shift staff; making sure that they are providing coverage for all residential facilities, to include monitoring client’s behavior, safety and activities to ensure that clients adhere to program rules and regulations. Responsible for monitoring and conducting evacuation and fire drills as required by state regulations Responsible for assisting in the training of Program Aides on the Standard Operating Procedures of the Dept. and the Emergency Management Plan of the Agency. Monitors all client behavior as needed, de-escalating potentially violent situations, resolving conflicts and forwarding pertinent information to the Supervisor and Director Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all client information, records and employee information in accordance with State, Federal and HIPPA regulations and JBRC Policy and Procedures Responsible for ensuring client wellness checks are being done. Responsible for responding to residential emergencies including medical and making appropriate contacts and 911 calls Responsible for notifying referral agencies (identified contacts) in case of resident abscond. Responsible for escorting or providing escort for Drug Court clients to and from approved appointments outside of facility. Responsible for reviewing all shift change documentation to ensure accuracy and proper documentation of any incidents involving residential clients, staff, visitors, and property; responsible for documenting all incidents involving clients, staff, visitors, and property in Avatar. Responsible for completion and submission of all required reports and forms within required timeframes. Establishes and maintains a positive and cooperative working relationship with other supervisors and staff as well as visitors and outside agencies. Performs other related duties as assigned by John Brooks Recovery Center leadership. Maintains professional and ethical boundaries. When conducting searches programs aides/Shift Leaders will be supplied with latex     gloves Program Aides/ Shift Leaders have the option to wear protective body coverage Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment when supervising and monitoring clients in a residential setting. Capable of lifting approximately 10 to 20 lbs Walking, the ability to move around on foot to accomplish task Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to communicate both orally and written Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner Must have active listening skills



QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid NJ (New Jersey) driver’s license

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires repetitive motion, hearing, pushing, reaching, and reading, seeing, speaking, standing and walking a majority of the time.  Spends time with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, copier, and telephone.
