Position: Program Assistant
Department: Philadelphia Citadel Corps
Availability of Position:Immediate
Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5 pm, Saturdays are sometimes required.
Reporting Relationship:Corps Officers
Salary and Grade: $17.00 / hr

Description of Position:
The Program Assistant works under the direction of the Corps Officers, provide support to all aspects of the Philadelphia Citadel Corps Ministry, including program development, maintenance, and supervision, property management, and evangelistic outreach.
Responsibilities
Duties:
Social Programs
+ Clean and Prepare Senior room.
+ Prepare and serve snacks.
+ Cooperate with guest speakers or leaders of the program.
+ Operate AV system for presentation and events that involve A/V use.
+ Purchase the items and snacks with Corps officer’s approval.
+ Lead the program if necessary.
+ After each program, must organize, clean and sanitize the room for the next program.
Corps Program
+ Must be present at all Corps’ Program, i.e. Bible Study, Prayer Walk, Music Program, Teen Night and Women’s Ministries and Men’s Fellowship Meeting.
+ Clean and prepare each room before starting.
+ Prepare and serve snacks.
+ Operate AV systems.
+ Cooperate with the program leaders, lead the program, if necessary.
+ Provide a ride according upon Corps officer’s request.
Food Pantry
+ Maintain and update the inventory of the food pantry.
+ Maintain the food pantry in an orderly manner and make sure items are appropriately stocked.
+ Maintain the clean environment in and around the food pantry area.
+ Develop and expand relationships with the community and government agencies, as directed by the Corps Officers
Summer Camp
+ Serve as the point person for The Salvation Army’s children’s summer camping program, including enroll, track applicants, and maintain records through “Camp Minder” on a timely basis.
+ Provide supervision to the senior citizens program.
+ Provide transportation to summer Camps as drop off and pick up with a 12-passenger van.
Seasonal Ministry
+ In collaboration with the Ministry Assistant, plan all aspects of the Christmas Toy Ministry, including:
+ Work with the Greater Philadelphia Operations Manager to ensure there is an adequate supply of toys and Thanksgiving Distribution Food for the season.
+ Organize and plan both the application and distribution policies for the Christmas Toy Program.
+ Provide directions and work with the volunteers.
+ Serve as Kettle Coordinator for The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign, including:
+ Make Weekly schedule for kettle workers.
+ Provide transportation with SA Vehicle for kettle workers daily.
+ Pick up kettles and count money daily.
+ Provide directions and work with the kettle workers.
Salvation Army Events
+ Must be present at all official The Salvation Army’ Event; such Divisional/Territorial Star Search, Youth Rally, Youth Councils, Soldiers’ Summit, and Family Camp.
+ Provide transportation for the events.
Other
+ Assist Corps Officers with correspondence, phone calls, Sunday services program preparation, event planning, etc.
+ Plan and help and lead social and spiritual development programs, as directed.
+ Secure and oversee volunteers.
+ Participate in and engage with people during programs.
+ Work alongside staff and volunteers to provide a safe and enriching environment for program participants.
+ Observe The Salvation Army’s policies on confidentiality.
+ Participate in staff meetings.
+ Uphold the mission and vision of The Salvation Army
+ Perform other duties as assigned by the Corps Commanding Officers.
+ Perform other tasks as needed, appropriate, and assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
+ High School Graduate or equivalent; Bachelor degree a plus.
+ An understanding, knowledge, and appreciation of the Bible.
+ Ability to work on Saturdays.
+ A valid Driver’s license, ability to drive a 12-passenger van, and ability to pass the Salvation Army van driver certification course.
+ Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn new software applications.
+ A passion for outreach to the unchurched and a sensitivity to those in disadvantaged circumstances.
+ Must be able to manage, plan, organize, and implement quality, creative children and adult programs.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
+ As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
+ Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
+ Must possess and appreciation for and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
