Function

The Crossroads Shift Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Program Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the shelter and staff at Crossroads. The primary responsibility of this position is providing leadership and supervision to the staff, volunteers and clients during the evening and overnight, including training, safety, and policies and procedures. This individual will also be the representative and advocate for the shelter, and Salvation Army, at all assigned and appropriate community meetings and activities. The individual in this position will seek insights and understanding of the people we serve, to determine the needs we may address and to aid people in changing the pattern of their lives in order to function more effectively in society. This individual will fill in during evening shifts when management is on leave, which may include weekends. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the Crossroads Program Supervisor in day-to-day operations of the shelter Oversee staffing stations Ensure job duties are completed by Program Assistants Oversee and monitor guest intake process and Bed Agreement process with staff and guests Oversee general note taking and tracking of day-to-day events and operations Assist the Program Assistant’s in completing day to day job responsibilities and duties Exercise initiative and judgment in approaching problems and creating/following the programmatic solutions to each problem, Assist the Crossroads Administration in training new Program Assistant staff Ensure that all Salvation Army policies are observed Maintain on-going professional relationships in all interpersonal contacts Complete all required Salvation Army assigned trainings Adhere and complete other duties as assigned. Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required Shelter experience required. Supervisory experience required. Must have/obtain current certification in first aid and CPR skills or obtain them within six months of hire. Crisis Intervention and non-violent mediation skills required. Must have a current Colorado Drivers License with the ability to be insured under The Salvation Army criteria.
Background Check Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift 25 pounds. Ability to access and produce information from the computer. Ability to understand written information.
