Our Laurel Park has an opening for a Program Assistant hired to help organize, schedule, implement, and promote recreational programs, summer and school day out camps, special events, and other related programs and activities of a major recreation facility. This positions works in collaboration of the Program Coordinators for assigned responsibilities and also includes collecting revenues, maintaining facility inventory, participating in outreach opportunities, recruiting volunteers and displaying strong customer service skills. The pay starts out at $19.66/hr, benefits begin within 60 days of hire, and there are numerous opportunities for advancement. Serve as primary resource for customers via phone, email and in person, providing information about facility programs, classes, and special events.
Produce the monthly event/reservation calendars, answering questions about room and shelter reservations, creating permits for rentals and coordinating volunteer projects.
Follow standards in the collection and processing of payments, rentals, and drop-in programs.
Communicate on a regular basis with supervisor and facility staff; collaborating with our Program Coordinators by working at various Recreation Facilities to ensure proper staffing.
Assist with creating and distributing promotional pieces for marketing.
Help prepare and submit required reports including monthly air conditioning schedule and facility attendance sheets.
Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
Assist with a variety of county-run programs, outreach events, summer camps, off-site special events, T-REC events, committees, and functions as assigned.
Attend classes and cross-train at other recreational facilities, as required.
About the ScheduleWork Hours:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
Typical Schedule: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Schedules may vary. Must be flexible and available Sunday - Saturday as events can require nights, weekends, and/or holiday work.
About YouMinimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent education.
Two (2) years of customer service experience.
Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.

CPR/AED Certification.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office Professional, RecTrac, or similar reservation software.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with groups and individuals.
Comfortable working independently and an ability to solve problems and develop service improvements.
Strong skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Physical Demands: Employees in this position must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
