Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of TRIO Student Support Services the Program Associate, TRIO SSS provides administrative support for the operations of TRIO and its staff and works closely with multiple constituencies across campus and within the University in achieving the objectives related to job duties.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Organize and coordinate office operations and procedures.

Assist other staff with program-related activities and programming.

Aid with recruitment and admissions efforts.

Coordinate admissions and enrollment data and documentation.

Compile data and information for reports and analysis, including data verification and correction; coordinate data collection with financial aid, registrar, and other appropriate offices on campus.

Organize and maintain a confidential filing system and database on all program participants.

Demonstrates working knowledge of basic office software (word processing, e-mail systems, spreadsheets, mainframes, databases, etc.), and database software (Canvas, Blumen, Colleague) to set up functions, enter data, or process information.

Establish liaison and cooperative working relationship with faculty, staff, and students.

Provide general support to students and refer students to the appropriate professionals for assistance when needed.  

Serve as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Director as directed.

Manage TRIO SSS Textbook Reference Library and TRIO SSS Lab and student workers.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION:

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

A minimum of one year of administrative support experience in an academic setting or related field.

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, and ability to work as part of a team.

Demonstrated knowledge and competency working with Google and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & Outlook).

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

PREFERRED:

Previous experience working with TRIO SSS or similar federally funded programs.  

Experience working with first generation, low income, and students with self-identified documented disabilities.

Experience coordinating college programs or activities for diverse populations as well as academically or economically disadvantaged students.

Ability to work with an ethnically and racially diverse student population, including those at risk.

Experience in data and project management.

Proficiency with use of technology and various database management systems a plus (Canvas, Blumen, Colleague, Banner, etc.).
