This role supports Education and Training at HCI and works under the direct supervision of the Program Manager of the Cancer Training and Career Enhancement office. The 5 For The Fight (5FTF) Cancer Research Internship Program is an intensive, 10-week summer internship for undergraduate students who are rising juniors and seniors from select Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The program provides hands-on research experience and mentorship for students interested in cancer research, medical school, or PhD programs. Under the guidance of a faculty mentor, interns will complete an independent research project and present their work at the Summer Research Symposium, organized by the Office of Undergraduate Research. This position plays a key role in ensuring the success of the 5FTF program and its mission to foster inclusivity and excellence in cancer research training. The 5 For The Fight (5FTF) Program Coordinator will support the operational and administrative needs of the 5 For The Fight Cancer Research Program at Huntsman Cancer Institute ( HCI ). This part-time (15-20 hours per week) role involves coordinating project logistics, managing communication efforts, and assisting with the development and execution of program initiatives. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the 5 For The Fight (5FTF) Program. 2. Maintain project records, reports, and evaluations, requiring strong writing and analytical skills. 3. Serve as the primary point of contact for students. 4. Provide information about program policies and procedures to students, faculty, staff, and community partners. 5. Manage all social media platforms to enhance program outreach and engagement. 6. Attend all program workshops, weekend activities, and field trips. 7. Assist in organizing program workshops and activities. 8. Communicate the program schedule with interns and mentors as needed. 9. Assist in program orientation and events. 10. Help develop presentations, promotional materials, and program resources. 11. Take meeting minutes and action items, ensuring timely follow-ups. 12. Organize and coordinate activities, workshops, luncheons, and meetings aligned with program goals. 13. Represent the program, HCI , and University of Utah when engaging with external organizations. 14. Support the preparation of program evaluation reports, research materials, and outreach publications. 15. Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
