Requirements
The Georgetown Scholarship Program (GSP), is a program which ensures that 650 undergraduate students, most of whom are first in their families to attend college and/or low income, have access to the resources necessary to graduate and even thrive in college. Nationally, students from these underrepresented groups graduate college at a rate of 9%-31%; at Georgetown, they do so at a rate of 96.4% (760 graduates to date). Within GSP, students have access to an accomplished alumni network, career assistance, mentoring programs, campus connections, and more. GSP's innovative program helps Georgetown to be a global leader in enrolling scholarship students and providing them with dedicated support throughout their college experience.
The Program Coordinator, Student Advising works with campus partners on cross-departmental initiatives to support underrepresented student populations, through efforts to raise awareness and develop networks across student-facing departments, enters, and offices. The incumbent attends weekly student events throughout the school year. Along with direct student advising, the Program Coordinator works to engage GSP's networks of support, including the Peer Mentorship and Alumni Mentorship programs. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Student Advising & Administrative Work
Advise first generation and low-income students on academic, social, and emotional issues, holding one-on-one meetings with students weekly.
Collaborate with case management colleagues for tracking and referrals as needed, attending weekly events.
Track and organize monthly expense reports.
Collect receipts and invoice reimbursements as necessary.
Program Development, Management, and Monitoring
Design and implement GSP's peer and alumni mentorship programs.
Liase with the Alumni Regional Network, including holding regular meetings and authoring a regular newsletter throughout the year.
Plan and implement peer mentorship programming throughout the year, conducting recruitment and outreach for program mentors.
Oversee matching processes between mentors and mentees, serving as a point of contact for alumni mentors.
Program Outreach and Sustained Engagement
Engage continuing students through relevant and year-specific programming emphasizing wellness and personal development.
Collect and track students’ programmatic involvement and modernize existing workshops/resource offerings to best support students’ needs.
Hold group meetings with students once a week.
Work Interactions
In their student advising capacity, the Program Coordinator meets with students and makes assessments and referrals as needed. The Program Coordinator regularly engages with students, alumni, and supporters as part of the mentorship components of the role. This individual also fulfills miscellaneous operational and administrative duties assigned by the Assistant Director of Student Advising, Associate Director, and Program Director. This position directly reports to the Associate Director and provides key support to the Assistant Director of Student Advising.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred
One to three years of experience serving in an advisory capacity to college students (could include time as a Resident Advisor, as an undergraduate, for example), preferably with the demographic we serve (first generation and low income students)
Flexible in working evening and weekend hours
Experience in using Google Drive, Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Publisher, and Adobe
Proficient in social media and creating newsletters
Strong professional background in and understands the transitional issues first generation college students face
Experience advising students as they transition into college with an understanding of financial aid and scholarship issues
Experience cultivating relationships with supporters of programs
Ability to think creatively in dealing with issues germane to college student life (ensuring student attendance at alumni events, last-minute changes due to studies, advising students under stress and pointing them in the right direction)

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$41,926.00 - $65,090.00Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
