Summary: The OPCS Teen parenting Program is a residential program for single young parents age 14-22 and their child(ren). The Program Coordinator assists the families with everyday tasks and ensures program is safe at all times.

Primary Responsibilities:
+ Notify Program Director of important concerns/issues that arise during the shift.
+ Attend to household tasks assigned by Program Director such as laundry, remaking rooms, etc.
+ Assist in mediating difficulties between families.
+ Staff the shelter as scheduled or necessary, sharing responsibility with other staff for evening hours, early morning shifts, weekends, and occasional holiday staffing.
+ Participate in on-call system to ensure shelter coverage.
+ Maintain cleanliness and order in the common areas.
+ Build and maintain helping and supportive but professional relationship.
+ Keep residents accountable for infraction of house rules.
+ Model good parenting skills, in both structural and informal ways.
+ Inspect housekeeping assignments, and attends to in-house needs of families.
+ Complete hourly house/room checks for purposes of safety and security.
+ Maintain confidentiality at all times about guests and events.
+ Supervise curfews and bedtimes.
+ Log results of house checks at regular intervals.
+ Record phone call and messages.
+ Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of the specialty.
+ Attend & participate in engagement team meetings, follow up with client service plans and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other specialty areas.
+ Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures .
+ Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
+ Previous working experience with homeless and/or young parents preferred
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Bilingual preferred
+ Must be able to work overnight shifts.
Organizational Relationship: Directly reports to Program Manager.
Physical Requirement:
+ Must be able to climb three flights of stairs as there is no elevator in the program
+ Must be able to climb up and down the stairs throughout your entire shift
+ The program is not handicapped accessible.
+ Assigned chores include bending and stooping, carrying, light lifting and pushing.
Working Conditions: The program is operated out of a three-story house located in the North end of Springfield, MA. Staff are required to do hourly house checks and be able to respond to guests needs on all floors. There is a minimal lifting involved As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Program Coordinator will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. Must be able to pass BRC check.
Remote Work Option: Remote work is permissible in some positions at SMOC depending on the key functions and responsibilities. The Program Coordinator position is eligible to work from home 0% of the week in scheduling coordination with the department manager.
