Recently, Rutgers–Camden earned Carnegie classification as an R2 research university due to a high volume of internationally recognized research, creative output, and scholarly activity.  Posting Summary Rutgers University-Camden is seeking a Program Coordinator in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department. Rutgers University-Camden is committed to advancing the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), including multiculturalism, social justice, and belonging. The Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive campus community by serving as a resource and liaison for students, providing education, outreach, and advocacy to enhance the student experience and support retention, graduation, and academic achievement. This position focuses on supporting LGBTQ+ and intersectional identities, addressing issues related to sexuality, gender identity, gender expression, race, ethnicity, and social justice. The Program Coordinator will develop and implement educational programming, leadership development opportunities, and training initiatives for undergraduates, while also promoting a campus environment where all individuals are valued and included. The Program Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include creating and facilitating DEI-focused programs and workshops, with an emphasis on LGBTQ+ initiatives. The incumbent will collaborate with campus partners to deliver intersectional programming, develop marketing materials, and oversee social media and communication efforts related to DEI. Additionally, the Coordinator will provide support and leadership development for students through regular appointments, drop-in hours, and mentorship. The role also involves coordinating and participating in campus-wide training, events, and committees to advance the mission of the Division of Inclusion and Community Engagement (DICE). As a visible campus leader, the Program Coordinator must navigate sensitive situations involving identity-related concerns, educate students and staff on issues of diversity and inclusion, and de-escalate conflicts in a professional, developmental manner.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus at least two years of relevant experience, with a strong background in creating and facilitating DEI and LGBTQ+ training programs. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional communication, creativity, and time management skills, and possess experience in restorative justice practices and program management. A master’s degree, grant-writing experience, and previous work in higher education or with LGBTQ+ populations are preferred. Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and student management systems is essential. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Senior Program Coordinator and other campus partners to support existing DEI initiatives and design programs addressing the needs of underrepresented students. This position requires frequent evening and weekend availability and involves significant engagement with students on topics such as identity exploration, racial inequity, and faith crises. The Program Coordinator must exhibit discretion and independent judgment in addressing student concerns, facilitating restorative dialogues, and contributing to policy and program development. Through ongoing assessment and reporting, this role supports Rutgers University-Camden’s mission to be a model of inclusion and equity, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for all students. Position Status Full Time Hours Per Week 37.5 Daily Work Shift Work Arrangement Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date.
